Gemma is sitting on the bed of her truck after school the following day wirh Chamberlin. He's telling her about his late night hunt after Gemma last night night, a mountain lion gave him a run for his money, and he's supposed to be a fast vampire.

"You're supposed to be faster than the animal, Chamberlin," Gemma states in a duh tone, making Edward chuckle a little. "It's not supposed to give you a run for your mindy unless it's a cheetah and you're in sunny Africa."

Chamberlin scowls and he looks up at the gloomy sky that relaxes Gem. Edward watches as Bella turns toward her truck and she begins looking through her bag for something, probably her phone or something. Alice and Jasper are standing by Alice's car, Rosalie is leaning against Gemma's truck bed beside Chamberlin and Emmett is beside Gemma when they all heard squealing tires.

The Cullens and the Newton girl all look up at the sound. They find Tyler's black van swerving around the parking lot on the sheet of ice that froze on the ground once the rain stopped. The van keeps going, like it's not going to stop. Unable to think of life with Bella dead, Edward risks exposure and he rushes over and he pulls Bella down, and he uses his hand to stop the van from crushing her.

"Bella!" Gemma exclaims as she hurries off of her truck bed.

She doesn't even kiss Emmett's cheek before she runs across the lot with Mike and she kneels beside her while Jessica calls for an ambulance. Rosalie growls a little at Edward's exposure. She wasn't pissed at Emmett because he didn't do it where everyone else could see and he's already dating Gemma. Jasper uses his ability to calm down the crowd of panicking students.

Gemma stands and she watches as Edward goes into the trees and she frowns. Did he really expose them all in front of everyone? Gem only hopes that no one else noticed Edward besides Bella and herself.

"Hey, Bella, breathe, you're okay," Gemma coos. "It's okay. Jess is calling 911. Just breathe."

Gemma is sitting in a waiting room chair at the hospital, her parka hanging in the back of it. She told chief Swan that she'd wait out here for an update, and he was okay with that.

Emmett enters the hospital and he spots Gemma, he walks over and sits with her. "Any update?"

"Chief Swan just got here, so nothing yet," Gemma replies. "Is Rosalie here?"

"And Edward," Emmett replies. "Rose is pissed."

"Rightfully so," Gemma replies. "But why was she okay with me knowing?"

"She's not," Emmett confesses. "But she's more okay with it because I did it in private, you and me are already together, and she has a slight liking toward you." Emmett reaches over and he interlocks his fingers with Gemma's. "And she knows how crazy I am about you."

Gemma smiles and she leans against Emmett. Emmett moves around and he wraps an arm around Gemma and he holds her while they wait for chief Swan and Bella to leave the emergency room after Carlisle checks her out.

Emmett and Gemma go to Karen's store upon hearing that Bella's okay. Gem fills Karen in on what happened while Emmett finally has a look around the store. He grabs a baseball and he throws it up and down. He pulls his phone out and calls Esme.

"Hello, dear," Esme coos.

"Esme, do we need another baseball?" Emmett asks.

"Yes, we need a few, just in case," Esme replies. "See if Mrs. Newton has some aluminum bats."

"Mrs. Newton," Emmett says as he walks over to the woman at the desk when Gemma goes to the back. "Do you have any aluminum baseball bats?"

"Firstly, you're dating my daughter. Call me Karen," the woman replies. "And second, follow me."

Emmett smiles a little, and so does Esme- who is at the Cullen mansion. Karen leads him to the baseball bat section and he thanks her.

"How many, Esme?" Emmett asks.

"One," Esme replies.

Emmett grabs it when he hangs up and he walks to the cash register. "Might as well buy something while I'm here."

Karen smiles at Emmett. "Yeah. Your family likes baseball?"

"It's America's favorite pastime," Emmett muses. "It's my favorite sport."

"Wait till you see my Gemma play," Karen praises as she rings everything up.

"My brother has her in his gym class, and he says she's on fire when she's on the court in any sport," Emmett claims, unaware that Gemma is listening to every word.

"Oh, she gets that from her father," Karen replies.

"I better get gone, my mother wants my help cleaning the house," Emmett says. "Willy ou tell Gem that I'll text her later?"

Karen nods her head. "I certainly will, Emmett. Drive safe; those roads are slick."

Emmett smiles at Karen and he leaves the store with the baseballs and the bat, and he heads home. Gemma smiles to herself and she finishes inventory.
