It's been another two weeks. Bella has gotten bigger and weaker and sicker. She's getting closer and closer to death and Gemma hates every single second of it. She and Rose might be pro-baby, but that doesn't mean that Gemma wants her step-sister to die.
Karen and Charlie got married last week, their ceremony was short, simple, sweet, and absolutely beautiful. They're now Charlie and Karen Swan. Gemma became Gemma Cullen a few days before, with Alice's and Bella and Edward's permission and a promise to renew their vows Alice's way, Emmett and Gemma got married in a court house in Port Angeles two days after Charlie and Karen's wedding.
Gemma's happy thoughts are interrupted buy a dirt bike outside. She gets up and vamp speeds downstairs. Gem opens the door before Jacob can knock.
"Is it true?" Jacob asks and he barges in as if he owns the place.
"Hello, Jake, now are you?" Gemma asks sarcastically.
"Listen, just give it to me straight," Jacob says to Gemma.
"Jake, is that you?"
"She's here?" Jacob asks Gemma with wide eyes,
"They came home two weeks ago," Gemma replies.
The blonde exhales sharply before she follows Jacob upstairs. Bella has Rosalie help her up and she pulls her navy blue shirt over her largely, swollen belly.
"You did this!" Jacob shouts at Edward angrily.
"We didn't even know it was possible," Carlisle claims as Gemma rips Jacob away from Edward.
"What is it?" Jacob asks as Gemma watches him cautiously.
"I'm not sure," Carlisle replies as Gemma joins her husband's side, keeping an eye locked on Jacob. "Ultrasounds and needles won't penetrate the embryonic sac."
"I can't see it, either," Alice claims. "And I can't see Bella's future anymore."
"We've been researching legends, but there isn't much to go on," Carlisle says. "Whay we do know is that it's strong. And it's fast-growing."
"Why haven't you don't anything?" Jacob asks accusingly. "Take it out of her!"
"This is none of your business, dog!" Rosalie snaps as she stands up from beside her own husband.
"Rose!" Esme scolds. "All this fighting isn't good for Bella."
"The fetus isn't good for Bella," Alice says.
"Say the word, Alice," Gemma demands sternly, Emmett sighs as he sits back. "Baby. It's just a little baby."
"Possibly," Jasper says and he shuts up as soon as he sees the betrayed glare Gemma is sending his way.
"Carlisle, you've got to do something," Jacob says pleadingly.
"No," Bella speaks up, finally. "It's not his decision. It's not any of yours."
"Jacob, I need to talk to you," Edward says and he walks out, Jacob follows.
Gemma leans against her husband and she exhales softly. Emmett grabs her hand and he looks at Bella. She has her hands on her swollen stomach and he's officially glad he pulled out of Gemma when they had sex for the first time. She'd probably be going through this and would have been a vamoire sooner.
That thought alone makes Emmett tighten his grip around Gemma. ✔️✔️✔️
