Emmett and Gemma have just arrived in Denali, Alaska and Irina has already taken Gemma out for her first hunt in the Alaskan woods. Irina kind of likes Gemma, she's blonde, gorgeous, and she puts up with Emmett and his... personality.
Eleazar has finally lain eyes on Gemma for very first time since she's been around the Cullens. He could have told them her ability when even she was a human. The dark-haired vampire smiles in awe as he circles the newborn. Gemma's eyes grow curiouser and curiouser as Eleazar mumbles under his breath.
"What's going on?" Carmen asks as she enters.
"Eleazar has finally laid eyes on Gemma," Tanya replies. "He seems to he intrigued by her ability. He keeps rambling, even we can't understand him."
"Eleazar, what is it, mi amore?" Carmen asks.
"Her ability, it is uncommon, yet so remarkable," Eleazar replies. "Now, Gemma, tell me. How did you feel about the weather outside when you were human?"
"I loved being outside as a human," Gemma replies. "Especially when it was raining or snowing."
"That explains it," Eleazar replies with a smile. "My dear, you can manipulate weather."
"I can what?"
Eleazar and the others an lead her outside. Kate stands back and Tanya joins her side. Carmen and Kate stand with Emmett while Eleazar gets the newborn to look him in the eyes by snapping his fingers because she was distracted by her mate.
"Focus," Eleazar instructs. "And try."
Gemma first studies the weather now. It's chilly out and there's some snow, which isn't a surprise in March. The snow will stick for a while. Gemma looks up a the slightly cloudy sky and she closes her red eyes. The clouds darken slightly and a mix of rain and snow falls.
Gemma's eyes widen when she feels it and her eyes snap open. "Oh, god! I did it?"
"You did," Eleazar boasts. "That's excellent. Now see if you can change it back before I explain the laws to you. The vampire laws."
Gemma nods her head and she closes her eyes. The weather returns to the way it was and she goes inside with Eleazar.
"She's going to make it in our world, Emmett," Carmen tells the vampire. "I just know it. It's like Chamberlin says when you guys spent those months with us; your mate? She's strong. Just... give her a while to truly adjust. We'll help for the few weeks you two are here, but then it's up to you and your coven."
Kate smiles at Emmett. "I like the newborn myself. She reminds me a lot of Rosalie. Weirdly."
Emmett chuckles as the vampires all head inside. ✖️✖️✖️
Gemma looks at her new, permanent shoulder length hair. After learning the laws with Eleazar, Gemma had Irina cut her hair. Since she was turned into a vampire and died, Gem felt like making some needed changes to help her adjust to the immortality world.
Irina was hesitant because she adored Gemma's long hair, but she understood. She understood the fact Gemma wanted to say goodbye to the old her so that she can say hello to the new.
Emmett enters the house as Gemma blow dries her hair. Irina helped Gemma wash her hair and upper back after the hair cut to be sure the hair was gone.
"Why did she shower?" Emmett asks.
"She didn't," Irina replies. "She hired me for free to be her personal hair stylist."
Emmett raises an eyebrow and they hear the blow drier turn off. The rest of the Denali coven come out of hiding at the sound, wanting to see Gemma's new vampire look.

"Wow," Emmett is the first to comment. "The short hair suits you, Gem."
"It really does!" Carmen gasps as she gives the newborn a hug.
Kate and Tanya smile at each other before complimenting Gemma's hair and Irina's work. They then take her out on another hunt. They want to help her grow accustomed to the animal diet right off the bat, knowing how hard it will be for her in the next several months as a newborn. But they also know how much the Cullens care about Gemma.
The Denali coven know that Gemma Newton will be just fine.
