GEMMA IS SITTING ON THE COUNTER, beside the newspaper that Rosalie is looking through. Rose is trying to find some updates for the happenings in Seattle. Carlisle is putting a splint on Bella's wrist.
"Total misunderstanding," Carlisle says. "It's just a sprain, it should heal fairly quickly."
"Trying to walk and chew gum at the same time again, Bella?" Emmett asks as he walks on.
Emmett walks over to Gemma and he wraps her in a hug.
"I punched a werewolf in the face," Bella replies.
"Badass..." Emmett comments as he holds Gemma slightly tighter, like he always does. "You're gonna be one tough little newborn like my girl here was."
"Tough enough to take you on," Bella challenges.
Rosalie slaps them newspaper down and she walks out, but not before throwing Bella a fierce scowl. Emmett sighs.
"Don't worry about it," Chamberlin says to her.
Gemma grabs the newspaper when Emmett pulls away. She's gotten used to Bella's lock of respect for her mortality.
"Aren't you mad at Bella?" Emmett asks.
"I'm used to her lack of respect for her mortality," Gemma replies bluntly, making Bella frown.
"Okay," Edward speaks up, "any leads?"
"No sign of the intruder," Jasper says. "But Victoria continues to make appearances."
"She's toying with us," Carlisle claims. "Keeping us distracted."
"From Seattle?" Emmett asks as Gemma puts the paper down, and looks at her new family after she texts Mike.
"Or the intruder," Carlisle replies. "Or something else."
"Alice can keep tracking her decisions but we have to track her in the ground," Edward says, and Bella heads out to where Rosalie is - tired of being ignored.
"We've already coveted the entire southern peninsula down to Quinaukt," Jasper says.
"And the pack has checked every crook and cranny on their side," Gemma adds, she stays in contact with Sam, Jared, Paul, or Embry with Victoria information. "Nothing."
"We'll check the northwestern trail," Edward says. "Gem, wanna come with me? I'll teach you more about tracking other vampires."
Gemma nods and she jumps down off the counter. She kisses Emmett before she leaves with Edward and Chamberlin. ✖️✖️✖️
