In three hours, we’d walked on the red carpet uneventfully, had the most amazing foods, danced ourselves silly, and met many celebs, also scoring the numbers of Cole Swindell, Miranda Lambert, Krystal Keith, Hunter Hayes, RaeLynn, and Autumn Blair.
After awhile, the DJ played a few slow songs as we drew closer to midnight. I buried myself into Jordan’s shoulder and faintly saw the flashes of the media as we danced. I’m sure every magazine would want to be all over this party like Jordan said because it was pretty amazing.
“I love you,” he whispered into my ear.
“I love you too.”
“Last time we couldn’t say it, but I know it’s true now,” he said.
“I couldn’t agree more with that statement.” We stopped talking and I continued to dance around in circles with Jordan. Soon enough, the beat was back up and the cowboys and a few girls were doing line dances.
After that, Hunter’s song, Wanted, came on and he asked me to dance.
“Sure thing,” I said. I took his extended hand and he led me onto the dance floor.
“I didn’t get to tell you that you look beautiful tonight,” he said nicely.
“Thanks,” I said.
“I know Jordan’s got you, but I just wanted to tell you your really lucky to have him. He hasn’t been able to date since Tina Gavin. That was his longest relationship, but she really left him in the dust and he was heartbroken.”
“I hope you know I would never do that. I love him,” I said.
“I know you do. You’re so much different from Tina. You may not have a career like her, which is something they had in common, but you have your family and personal qualities that separate you from everyone else,” Hunter said.
“Thank you.”
“And just so you know, if Jordan ever breaks your heart, just know I’ll be here to take you for myself.”
“Thanks Hunter, but I hope that never has to happen no matter how nice that offer is,” I told him.
“Alright, Reina. Thanks for the dance,” he said as the song ended.
“I liked it. See you later.”
“Sure thing.” And with that, Hunter waved and disappeared into the crowd.
I wandered back to Jordan and pecked him on the lips. “How was it?” he asked.
“Not as great as dancing with you,” I said with a yawn.
“You think you can make it the last ten minutes?” he joked.
“There’s only ten minutes? Yay!” I squealed.
“Why don’t you say we watch the ball drop,” Jordan suggested.
I nodded eagerly like a little kid to him.
“Alright then.” He took my hand and guided me to another section of the ballroom where a whole bunch of people were already watching for the ball to drop in New York.
God, maybe I’ll get a midnight. Should I kiss him or should he kiss me? Is it just a mutual thing and we think the same and it just happens? I thought. Why was I so nervous about a midnight. I mean, it was my first midnight kiss, but surely not my first kiss ever, only that’d just happened just last week.
Not long after, everyone started to count down from sixty. Jordan and I soon joined the crowd, but I was so tired and mixed up lots of the numbers which made Jordan laughed.
Five. I turned towards Jordan at the same time he turned to me and we smiled at each other.
Four. It came into realization that my first midnight kiss was about to happen!
Three. My heart was pounding and the butterflies in my stomach were trying to break free so hard. I was freaking out!
Two. We put our heads closer together and I could smell Jordan’s mint breath.
One. He leaned in and so did I. Cameras everywhere flashed as my new year started with Jordan’s lips connected with mine. The kiss wasn’t too rushed, more on his passionate and gentle side. A hungry kiss probably wouldn’t look to good to the media.
A short time later, we parted our mouths and looked at each other as we breathed heavily. Everyone was still cheering for the new year and we joined the cheers.
Soon enough, it died down and people started to spread around the dance floor to continue dancing the new year away.
2015, I thought to myself. How promising this year is starting to be.
A/N - This chapter is super short (sorry!), but kind of cute. =)
