I smile stiffly as I take nod before walking towards the lioness. There's a knowing smirk on her face as I take a seat next to her. "Why don't you get to know eachother a bit better before we start class." Mx. Haine insists. I nod once again, but before I could reply, the girl sitting beside me beats me to it. "Of course Mx. Haine" Oh god her voice. It sounded creamy and smooth but just the right amount of hoarse to send shivers down my spine. Goodness I didn't even know her name and I was more whipped than the cream my weird ass brother eats with bananas. She turns to me, extending her hand.

"The name's Leah."

"Bridgette" The lioness raises a brow.

"I thought my partner's name was Vanessa, at least that's what it said on the sheet." Leah asks.

"It is" I snap. My first name always was a sensitive subject. "I go by Bridgette though, so respect it." I snarl. I expect her to be taken aback but instead my response is a loud, booming laugh that causes people to look at us. "What's so funny about the fact that I'll claw your fucking ass off if you don't stop." I glare. She keels over in laughter.

"It's funny because I'm a literal alpha lion and you're a lone cat shifter who's threatning me. Me who has an entire pride of lions at the ready at all times. It's hilarious" She says, her laughter dying down to slight chuckles. I look down in embarressment. Wow I really didn't think that through. Still, she called me Bridgette from then on. We talked about the class and exchanged numbers for when we had to write papers for the class, she also gifted me a smirk and typed something on her phone. She texted me something.

Leah L: Hey

Me: Hi

Leah L: Bridgette, right?

Me: Mhm

Leah L: k

Leah L: Wanna meet up to get to know eachother?

Me: Why not. Time?

Leah L: Lunch ok?

Me: Yeah sure

Our texting was inturrupted by Mx. Haine who announced the period was over. I get up and begin leaving when I get a text just as I reach the door.

Leah: 45 min ;)

I walk down the hallway as I just finished my period before lunch. Nervously, I walked down the hallway towards the cafeteria. Looks were being thrown my way, some glaring, others admiring. I felt myself get sucked into their gazes, as if they were black holes, trapping me and all the light nearby inside of them. I pull my mid-length hair back into a ponytail before I stalk towards the table. My cat's tail flicked back and forth as a sign of worry. Why did everyone act like I was getting sentenced to death?

My worries calmed when Leah yelled my name. Well not really calmed, more like startled me enough that I forgot them. A tense grin spread across my face and while most would have neither noticed nor cared about the fact that it was fake, Leah noticed immediatly. She frowns. "You okay?" I nod silently.

She looks around a bit and straightens her back. Suddenly, gets out of her seat and onto the table "Hey!" she yells. "Scram! Nothing to see here." She glares around the room and begins to sit down but not before throwing in a growl for good measure. As soon as her eyes land on me, her mood changes. She cocks her head to the right and looks at me with wide eyes. "Is that better?" Instead of replying, I just sit there in shock, attempting to process what just happened. Finally I blush and look down before letting out a soft mhm and before I could stop myself a smile, this time a real one, spreads across my face. Leah smiles brightly and all I can think of is how sexy she looked earlier when she yelled at the supernaturals staring at me, her authoritative tone and the look of protectiveness on her face. I also though of how adorable she looked now. Like a kitten given a bowl of milk, I thought.

We talked about a few things, keeping it mostly non-personal. Finally, it lands on her rank. She had mentioned she was an Alpha earlier, so we discuss her pride. "I didn't know females could lead"I ponder thoughtfully. She frowns

"You aren't one of those old school shifters, are you?" I shake my head

"No way. I don't even live with my parents, let alone a p-pride" I was about to say pack but I was supposed to be a cat, not a wolf. Only canines had packs, birds had flocks, bears were solitary and my cat always was a lone creature. She tilted her head.

"Was that a stutter?" I blush. It wasn't but after a couple of years in a broken down household, I learned to lie smoothly. I did actually stutter once in a while, but usually only when I was nervous. She smirks and leans forward, she crosses her hands over each other like the lions you see in those nature documentaries.

"You're so pretty when you blush, love" This time I actually sputter.

"I-pt-pf-th-ke-uh-thank you...?"Great job Bridgette. You just took the mood and threw it into a fucking hole. Thankfully, she doesn't notice, or if she does she doesn't say anything. I look down at my lap for a bit before sneaking a look at her. Her shockingly blue eyes were already on me, staring. A hand reaches foward to brush my cheek.

"you're so very pretty," she mutters softly, her eyes slightly glazed over. I didn't think I could blush any more than earlier but apparently she even brought that out. Suddenly, she snapped her hand back, her eyes darted around and blinked furiously. She straightened her back and cleared her throat. "Well then it was fun talking to you. Um, I need to head to class now and you should too. I'll see you in chemistry tomorrow." She says almost robotically. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that she wanted to leave and she wanted to leave now. She walked away with her shoulders tense. What the hell just happened?
