Class sucked. The only thing that could save this day was a run in the woods and some alone time between my animals. During lunch I told Sophie that I would leave for a bit before I strolled into the woods. My cat had already been half out for a bit and had gotten her taste of blood for the day. She was asleep throughout most of class, which isn't the best since she's usually the most focused out of all of us.
I striped out of my clothes and hid them in my bag under a bush before shifting to my eagle. She needed to go for a fly and she wouldn't be noticed if as much if she stayed high up. My arms grew feathers and I went through the painful process of shifting. I stretched my wings, giving them a nice flap before increasing the speed and taking off. Most birds didn't take off from the ground but a tiny stick off a tree would have to do, after all, my other animals couldn't get anywhere near a high branch. I glided through the air before I caught sight of a bunny. I hope it isn't a shifter. As I dove down I took a good whiff of the air, making sure it didn't smell human before I reached my claws out to grab the rabbit. My talons caught hold of it's back before I quickly took flight again, my eagle in command. I finally found my way to a secluded area with a roof of branches where I gently placed the rabbit down. It was already dead, most likely of fear, but that was nature. I tore a chunk of the rabbit off, using my talons to hold it down, and swallowed it. It was enough to satisfy my eagle, so I flew back to school with a full belly.
Finally there, I directly shifted to my wolf to find my clothes, when an unfamillier scent filled the air. I froze. Fuck.
What if they saw me, I would be fucked as, well, fuck
I grabbed my bag between my teeth and dragged it away, behind a line of bushes. The safest move would be to shift to my cat and drag the bag back out to the shifter changing rooms in the courtyard. They were placed there for when a shifter needed to go for a run in their animal form. Shifting from animal to animal wasn't easy, but shifting from my bird was always the hardest, so wolf to cat wasn't that bad. I watched as my long chocolate brown fur shortened to the fur of my cat. I snagged my bag between my teeth and began the tedious process of making my way to the changing rooms. I found the one with a dog door on it and snuck inside before shifting back to my human form. There was a tiny crescent moon window on the side which I peaked out of. A ginger haired girl walked out of the woods half shifted, her fluffy tail stretching out. I sighed as the squirrel shifter found a changing room and entered. That was a close call.
I pulled on my clothes and ate my human lunch, some leftover lasagne from the previous day's dinner. I had just finished when I found Sophie exiting the school building. I was about to call after her when I noticed how she was walking. She was acting strange, she would look behind her more often than not, she walked at a quicker pace than normal and her movements were sharp, like a startled deer I thought. The fact that she was scared was obvious, however one question remained. What was she scared of? I brushed the question off. She would probably tell me later. One of the best parts of having your mother die of an overdose was that you learn not to ask too many questions- you learn to have boundaries.
But still, the questions wrack my brain. Why is she scared? Did something (or someone) do something to scare her? Why was she worried? I pace around in the tiny changing booth before deciding to call out to her. I open the door. "Sophie!" I yell, startling her further.
"Oh! Hey Jet" She laughs nervously. "I was just heading to the woods for a quick run, you're free to join me if you want." This was weird. She was weird. She was usually calm and collected, joking around every once and a while. Now, however, her voice was strained and polite. Too polite. Maybe I should ask her? Nah. She obviously doesn't want me to intrude on her buisness, I mean I wouldn't want someone asking me why I was acting weird. I mean to be fair, if I do so it's probably over something that would condemn me as a mutt, but like I still wouldn't like that. I realize I've just been standing there so I quickly make up an excuse.
"Nah, you're a deer shifter, I'm a cat one, I would barely be able to keep up." I say in a playful tone. "Go on ahead, I'll see ya in ten." She lets out some tense laughter before walking into the woods to shift. Well this was an interesting lunch.

The next day, I walk into my first chem class. Chem with Mx. Haine(Mx pernounced Mix), I didn't have chem for the first week because we needed lab partners or some shit and there was an even number of people there. Anyways someone transfered schools from this one to another and now there was an extra space. I walked in and Mx. Haine smiled warmly. "You must be Ms. Williams. Welcome to my Chemestry class, I'm Mx. Sam Haine as you should know and I'm a 24 year old Eurasian Wolf shifter. Yes I get those questions a lot and yes you may take a seat next to Ms. Leventis, she's over there." They point to a seat in the middle row where ah shitty shitty shit shit. Of course, the universe decides to be stereotypical and pair me with the one person I'd been trying to avoid specifically this entire fucking week. The blue-eyed lioness.
