I dressed up in an outfit that I threw together last second- A simple burgundy turtleneck and jeans. The place wasn't too far from where I lived and Guel and Zoe were in their room doing god knows what so I took the bus. Finally, I arrived at around 6:30, a bit early but I was easily the last one to arrive, as Leah and another woman who looked faintly like her stood talking to one another. "Hey." I say, announcing my arrival. Leah's head snaps to my direction and a smile breaks out on her face, which she quickly shakes off. I expect Leah to be the first to initiate contact but it was the other lady who did instead.
"OH MY GOSH SHE'S SO CUTE!" The woman exclaims, squishing my cheeks, I look to Leah, a pleading look in my eyes but she only smiles apologetically.
"Leya, calm down. You don't wanna scare the poor thing, do you?" another, more masculine voice, asks. A male with pale blonde hair that almost looked white stood up from one of the tables. He flashes a charming smile at me. "The name's Nicholas, but you can call me Nick. You?" I chuckle awkwardly
"Err.. Bridgette." He shrugs.
"Imma be honest with you, doesn't suit you but ok."
"Call me-" I was about to say Ridge but that has too many bad memories attached to it. "Jet then.
He nods. "Fair enough." Finally, Nicholas and Leya leave to go back to the patio. I look up to Leah.
"Your Pridemates are exhausting." She laughs.
"Wait till you meet the rest." I instantly regret coming here.

In a flash, I'm introduced to pridemate after pridemate. Some of which I recognized from school, some were graduating college soon and some were barely in middle school. Person after person each had the distinct features of a lion. Golden locks ranging from a hue nearly brown in colour to a colour that could be compared to pale sand. All except one. A few were introduced with their mates, most of which were lions or other big cats but one pair stood out to me. They were a female and a male, the female being a year under me and introduced as Laith but the male was mismatched. His hair was distinctly that of a tiger shifter, a bright red with hints of a charcoal black spotting his crisp locks. His eyes, however, glowed an unnatural purple. A colour only known to belong to witches. Almost as if he could sense it too, we nodded in understanding. He was a hybrid.
I wouldn't be alone.
I had a chance.
I could stay with Leah and not drag her down. A glimmer of hope lit itself inside of me. This might work. A smile is on my face for the rest of the evening, the conversation's filled with laughter and jokes between lion and lion, young and old. Was this what a pride was like? My cat purred contentedly and my wolf barked in response. Well less of a bark and more of a yip but it was enough for me to understand. I finally understood something. A pride or pack is family, I could tell by the way Leah seemed so familiar with everyone here that this was normal. They were usually this close with one another, they would trust each other with their lives and protect those of others in a millisecond. More than physically, too, they supported one anothers decisions, even if they disagreed, they wanted the best for each other, even if that person disagreed. No matter how much they fought and argued and had their spats, they trusted each other and honestly, it was beautiful.
I thought about it for a second before deciding something I knew I couldn't change my mind about as I 100% agree with it.
It would be an honour to serve as this pride's Luna.
I gaze affectionately at the scene in front of me. Embarrassing stories thrown left and right and constant teasing and joking. I could get used to this.
I could definitely get used to this
