In a trance

Josh POV

I tell the doctors what I think happened but I am not sure if she got raped or not. I am a mess. I am supposed to protect her. She is so tiny. The doctors say they will come get me when they are done. I turn around and sit down with my head in my hands. Rachel comes storming in. "Josh what happened?" she says as she hugs me. "I found her with just underwear on Rachel! What if he raped her? I told her I would protect her and I didn't" I say while crying. "i left her for 10 minutes and turned back around after I double thought why I was doing a collab". She hugs me and I sob into her shoulder. "Josh imagine how much worse it could have been if you didn't turn around and go home" she says. "you saved her Josh" she adds. "I failed her Rachel" I say. Just then a doctor walks out and says that they didn't do a rape kit because Colleen told them he didn't get that far but they cleaned her up and will have a therapist to see her. She is being admitted for the night in case she has another panic attack.

Colleen POV

I am laying in the hospital and I am in a trance. I see Josh come in and he holds my one hand and Rachel is behind him and holds onto the other. They are talking to me but I don't hear them. Its like my brain doesn't want to hear them. I tune them out. I am rethinking him. The attack. I start to quietly cry. I feel numb.

Josh POV

Rachel and I are a mess. The doctors told us that they gave Colleen something to calm her nerves. I am speechless. My wife is in pain and I can't fix it. "Rachel I can never forgive myself" I sob. She comes and hugs me. I am a mess. "Josh we need to call your parents. Maybe your mom and dad can help you and Colleen through this" Rachel suggests. "I am worried about you Josh please" Rachel begs.

I call my mom and she is crying. Her and my dad are coming to be with me and Colleen. I need to surround myself with my family. I cannot handle this pain alone. Rachel hugs me after talking to my mom and dad and says "Josh thank you. I think this is the best for you and Colleen". "Rachel thank you for being a great sister to me" I say. "Colleen loves you Josh and you didn't fail her. One asshole did this to her and you got to her in time. We will fix her" she says
