The next day, Melissa sat in her room reading the book on the Petrova bloodline, but it only stops at Katherine. She knew that there was a reason on how Elena is her doppelgänger unless... "she had a child out of wedlock." She mumbled and started to get dress.

Her phone started ringing making her go and look at it. Elena. She sighed as she knew what this was about. Elena wants to speak to Katherine. She never replied or read the message, but she had to meet up with Caroline first.

When Melissa arrived at the school, the first person she saw was the one she needed to talk to. "Caroline!" The blonde turned and smiled. "I need you to listen to me, but don't tell no one till I see if I'm correct."

"What did you find out?" Caroline asked.

"The truth behind why there is a doppelgänger." Melissa said. "Something that was left out of the Petrova bloodline. I need to ask Katherine if I'm right about my suspicions."

"Okay, but a heads up. Elena is on her way there and she wants me to lie to Stefan."

"Good luck with that." Melissa says as she left.

Caroline knew what her friend meant. Stefan will see through the lie.

Melissa made it to the tomb. She heard talking and knew that Elena was in there. Sighing, the blonde walked in as Katherine spoke. "You had a child out of wedlock." She said as she got closer.

"Melissa?"

"Not now, Elena." She tells her friend. "The reason why it's not in the bloodline was because your father hid the child away. Or as he would have thought of as the bastard child."

"Yes." Katherine replies as she looked at the blonde. "You know way too much to be a human."

Melissa just smiled as she sat down on the ground. "Now. Tell me about Sylvester."

"Sylvester?" Katherine questioned till she remembers the blonde who stayed to himself. "Oh." She said. "Klaus's favorite. Sylvester keeps to himself more than he's siblings. It was told during the time I was human that he was looking for his mate, but she hasn't been born. He never looked at another woman, just stood by and watched his family make mistakes."

"Sounds like he is more mature than the others." Melissa replies.

"He still is." Katherine replies. "He will prove to those the others motives before someone gets hurt or they betrayal happens. He tried to warn Klaus about me."

"You played with Trevor's feeling and tricked Rose into healing you." Katherine nodded. Melissa stood up and looked at Katherine. "Sylvester saw you for the bitch you are. He knew exactly what you were about to do and tried to tell Klaus, but Klaus thought you loved him enough to not do something so stupid. He now wants you dead for betraying him."

"Yes."

"Melissa? Elena?" Melissa heard Stefan say.

Melissa walked away as Stefan watched the blonde go, but Katherine gasp as she saw the marking of an S on her wrist. Melissa is the mate Sylvester Mikaelson has searched for. "Stefan, what I'm about to tell you now is that Melissa is the answer to all this."

"What do you mean?" He asked as Elena to wanted to know.

"Melissa isn't an ordinary human. She's too smart for one and two she carries her self like a noble woman." Katherine replies.

Elena looked at Katherine with a question look. "Is it because she is Sylvester's mate."

"There's more to that and I don't know what that could be. All I can say is that Melissa isn't human."

Melissa smiled as she walked inside her house as she got all the answers to her questions. Now she can continue her search on the moonstone and why the doppelgänger is needed.

"So Melissa isn't human." Damon said. "What the hell is she?"

"Katherine doesn't know, but we do know she is Sylvester's mate." Stefan says. "If we can find Sylvester than we will have our answer."

"It's not going to be that easy." A voice said making the two look at Rose. "Sylvester is Klaus's favorite. He won't do nothing to betray his brother." Rose said. "Maybe I can help with finding answers about Melissa."

Damon and Stefan looked at one another before nodding. They need to know what their friend is and to see if Katherine is right about Melissa.
