"Leah, are you sure you're not moving too fast?" My Aunt Pat asked me.
"No, Aunt Pat. Why would you ask that?" I said holding the phone closer to my ear and adjusting myself in my seat.
"I'm only saying that because I don't want you to spread yourself too thin. You're panning this major birthday bash for Russell, whom I really like, but you've only known him or 8 months! This takes a lot of time, energy and money."
"I know Aunt Pat, but you know how much I..."
"Love Russell. Yeah, yeah I know. I've created this monster. You remind me of your mother, always going to the ends of the earth to please people. He better be showing his appreciation for my niece as well." Part of me became sad when she mentioned my mother. It made me miss my family back home. I wish I could call and tell them all of the good things happening right now, but I know they could care less.
"Well, I'm sure he will soon. We haven't had the chance to spend time together yet. You know how that goes."
"Ok, I hear you. I just want the best for you two. Well I love you; in the meantime, I'll be watching you two."
"Haha, talk to you later Aunt Pat."
I threw on a pair of my favorite jogger sweatpants, a pair of Jordan's and a nice hooded leather jacket to go run some errands for Russell's party. I also needed to go grocery shopping because in the midst of working on the children's palace and planning Russell's party, I have not been eating enough lately. It's been too crazy! But it's exciting. I love planning and decorating, especially for those I care about.
I successfully pick up things I needed to put a finishing touch on Russell's party, because it is two days away and then I head to the local Whole Food's store to get food so I will not die from starvation.
I'm in the produce section, when I reach to grab some sweet potatoes; a hand meets mine at the same time.
"Let me help you with that," A very deep, raspy voice coos. I look up to see Lamarcus. I swear this guy is following me around.
"Oh. Hey, Lamarcus." I say stepping back and sweeping a lock of my hair behind my ear.
"I told you I would see you around. Looks like you wanted to see me as well."
"Not at all, Lamarcus. I told you I'm seeing someone and I'm very happy."
"Are you really happy? I bet he doesn't even make you a priority and treat you like a queen you are, giving you the time you deserve."
"I told you I'm happy. Thank you for your concern. You need to take my word for it. And please don't leave any more comments under my pictures on IG. I would hate for my man to see that one day. It will cause a mess."
"So you saw my comment, and didn't reply?" Lamarcus said almost driving me crazy. He was not getting the point.
"Goodbye, Lamarcus. Don't you have a basketball game to be playing?"
"Yes, but I always have time for you. Even if I didn't, I'd make the time." Those last words he said hit home. I wish Russell would make more time for me. Can even people outside of us see that? I shook my head trying to evade the thought, and reassured myself that I am happy with Russell and have a great understanding of his schedule and what he does. I was not about to allow Lamarcus to put negative thoughts into my mind.
"Lamarcus, bye. Have a great day and remember; I am not available."
"Okay, but you know who to call when you become available." He said winking. I couldn't help but noticed he was an attractive man. At that point I ran to the check-out line. I needed to get away from him and this whole foods store.
