As soon is I said the words, Appa leaped into the sky. "WHOOOOOHOOOOO!" I shouted at the top of my lungs, feeling the air rush past.

Sokka, on the other hand, was screaming his head off. "IN THE NAME OF YANGCHEN GET ME OFF THIS THING!" I raised an eyebrow. "You do realize that Yangchen was an air Avatar, right" I said as the sky bison dipped closer to the water, Zuko's ship right in front of us. "Look, there's Aang!" Katara exclaimed pointing at the airbender, who was using his glider to fly just above the deck of the ship, dodging fire blasts from the benders below.

I directed Appa in a circle, dropping off my siblings before jumping of the bison myself. I pulled my club from my belt and held it up in what I hoped was a threatening way. As I may have previously mentioned, I have absolutely no skill when it comes to weapons, but the soldiers in front of me didn't know that. From where I was standing, I could see my sister using water bending to freeze some soldiers' feet to the deck. I yelled what I hoped was a fierce battle cry and ran towards the soldiers who were focused on my siblings.

Things went well, for the first three seconds. I took down two soldiers before the rest had disarmed me and pushed me to the deck of the ship. Aang was still engaged in his fight with the Fire Prince, and Katara and Sokka were being cornered in such a way that my sister had no room to waterbend I felt the familiar pull in my gut. I had promised mom before she died -and later, dad before he left to fight- that I would protect both Sokka and Katara, the last southern waterbender. So, instead of fighting the pull, I gave in and felt the water bend. A large wave Surged over the side, knocking all of the firebenders of their feet - some even made it over board. Luckily, the wave had parted so that it didn't even touch my sister and brother. We got up and ran over to each other. Katara reached me first and gave me a huge hug. I patted her on the head. She looked up at me and I was reminded that I used to do the same thing to mom.

"How did you-" she started, but then I interrupted her. "Nevermind that, where's Aang and Appa?" The giant bison took that moment to land in the deck in front of us. I jumped on his head, using some of the water left on the deck to give myself a boost. The others scrambled on and I directed Appa off of the ship. "Aang!" I shouted,"Get on!" Aang flew with his glider and landed on Appa, dodging the prince's final attack.

It missed the young Avatar, thank goodness, but headed towards me instead. I bent a stream of water from the ocean below to block the fire. Aang landed on Appa's head and took the reins from me. "Yip, yip!" He shouted and the bison flew higher, putting more distance between us and the now shouting fire prince.

Once we had gotten far enough away, Katara turned to Aang. "Why didn't you tell us that you're the Avatar?"

Aang looked down at his feet then turned to face us. "I guess it because, I never wanted to be." Sokka was the next one to speak. "Yeah, ok. Aang's the Avatar. Big whoop." He pointed with both hands at me. "But isn't anyone going to ask in Kuruk's name how long our older sister has been a waterbender!" I winced.

"You saw that huh." The other two were looking at me questioningly as well. I sighed and sat up. "Well there goes my big secret. I discovered that I could bend nearly two months before mom died. I wanted to tell everyone in the village, but she insisted that I keep it a secret."

Katara's eyes widened in realization. It wasn't me who bent the laundry water, it was you!"

I nodded. Katara began to full-on fangirl. "We dont even need to go to the North pole, you can teach me!" I held up my hands. "Woah, slow down sis. I'm not skilled enough to teach anyone."
"But-"
"No."
Katara slumped down where she was sitting. I sighed, my one weakness was my siblings acting mopey. "Ugh, fine" I said grudgingly "Spirits, you drive a hard bargain. I'll teach you." She perked up and opened her mouth,  but I interrupted her. "We're still going to the north pole, Aang does need a proper teacher after all." I looked at the monk and he smiled back. Katara jumped on me. "Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!!!!!!" I patted her head. Sokka turned to Aang. "So the fire Nation is after us, mostly you, where do we go?"

"We need a place where the fire Nation can't follow us." I added. Aang smiled. Then I know the perfect place." Katara looked up. "Where?"

Aang looked back at her." My home, the southern air temple

Finally! Hey everyone. It me, your awesome author. I figured that this was a good place to introduce myself. As you can probably tell, I'm writing most of this from memory, so its not exact. Sorry.
