(A/N): It's basically a filler but it'll get better. I mean, I need to set some things straight before diving right into the plot.

Expectations often surprise you at the least expected times. When I came out of Elijah's office I saw two things which I did not expect.
Let's start with number one.

A beautiful bouquet of lilacs was sitting in a very unsettlingly ceremonious way on the coffee table of the waiting area. The flowers were very similar to the ones I had seen on Elijah's desk earlier.

Now, it could've been for Elijah or Alice or maybe it was going to be sent to someone, right?

Quite mediocre. Very normal. Right? Yeah. I thought so too but hey, it's okay to be proven wrong every once in a while.

The huge card that was displayed with it screamed 'WELCOME TO VOGUE' in a bold, orange colored font.

It was...weird but it was okay. Everything was okay. I was not unemployed anymore. Infact I was employed at one of the leading fashion magazines! I could deal with everything! Ha!

Now for the second thing. This was out of the question completely. I swear.

Blondie, er, Elijah's secretary stood beside the bouquet smiling happily.

"Congratulations are in order I believe. I hope you like lilacs." She was excited.

Okay... Someone's excited.

"Yeah. Thanks. They're lovely." I smiled.

"Yes! I knew it! Finally someone who likes the same flowers as me and- Wait. Do you have a short temper? I mean most of the employees here are great but not that great... They get hyper on the smallest things." She rambled on.

Why did I like her? Oh yeah, she was short and honest at heart. She also got me the job. What's not to like? Points for Blondie.

"But I got lucky. Elijah is a sweetheart. He never pressurizes me for anything. He's patient. Now that," she emphasized "is a remarkable quality."

"Hey, I never got to know your name." I interrupted.

"Oh? Yes. Sorry. I'm Alice Young. You can call me Alice."

"Miss Young? A moment please." I caught a glimpse of Elijah before he vanished behind the doors of his office.

"I sure do hope you know what you signed up for." She whispered in a hurry as she started walking towards his office.

"What do you mean?" I started walking with her.

"This interview was to get a secretary for one of the C-level officials." She said in a hushed, obvious way.

Wait a second! Hold the fu—

"He just got... appointed, your new boss. People talk you know? And I hear them sometimes."

I couldn't comprehend anything. What was happening?

"Go on."

"People say he's stubborn, arrogant and conceited. Doesn't listen to anybody. But he's very smart. Knows things and statistics and stuff."

But... I didn't apply for this?

"Okay..." I said uncertainly.

"Oh and he's the president's illegitimate son." She said nonchalantly while I had a mini panic attack.
