My trip to Hawaii left me in a state of bittersweet feelings. It didn't go as I had planned it but it did go exactly as I had thought it would. Contradictory, right?

All my work was sorted. The clients were happy. Jennifer was marvellous and to my surprise, I discovered she had a warm personality once I got to know her better. I was just a tad bit disappointed that for the most time, which I could have spent in the sun getting my tan, I was sleeping my ass off. This continous change of time zones was seriously not my cup of tea.

But lo and behold, I had somehow gotten all my work done. Everyone was pleased and our clients, the Calivaras, were looking forward to doing more business with Vogue in future. They even wanted to throw a party just to congratulate us for doing a wonderful job.

Hm, oh yes! They said and I quote," You did a wonderful job. We are very grateful to you for abiding by our schedules and rearranging the meeting so quickly and so efficiently."

I felt pretty smug at that moment but politely accepted their praises.

Hawaii was good alright but nothing beat the New York sunshines and unexpected rains. As I walked out from the airport, with my luggage in tow, that was the first thing I noticed. Sunshine was missing because it was way past dusk but to my surprise, it was raining. Damn, it was pouring!

Oh god. How was I supposed to go home now? Jennifer had already left with her husband, Morris. He was a burly man in his late forties but he was exceptionally nice.

I made up my mind to hire a taxi and hauled my luggage behind me as I walked quickly outside the airport.

*ring*

"Hello?" I answered my phone.

"Aye! V! Where you at girl?" Gus hollered.

"JFK."

"Oh! You're back!! My child has returned! What are you doing at the airport? Come home! We'll have dinner. A warm, cozy dinner. I'll ring Nora."

Someone spoke in the background and Gus muttered something incomprehensible.

"I have to go Miamore but I'll see you at dinner. Your place at 8. Ciao"

He hung up on me.

I sighed heavily before chuckling. Stupid Gus.

Unlike the usual rush of yellow cars waiting to get passengers, there were barely a handful of taxis outside. What was happening? This was NYC! Taxis were seen more than trees! What the fuçk?

I asked around and most of the taxis were booked and to my sheer luck, the one I did find vacant had a creepy driver. I seriously wanted Mr J to pop out of nowhere and take me home. What was I supposed to do now?

Oh god.

"Violet."

I whipped my head around to come face to face with Calum. My heart fluttered.

I still couldn't get over how he managed to leave me flustered every time we met each other.

God damn this Aussie!

He looked tired but sexy as hell, in his navy blue suit. His tie was loosened and he had a miraculous case of messy hair. Wait, isn't he supposed to be in China?

"Calum? What are you doing here?" I asked, narrowing my eyes.

"It's good to see you too Violet." He grinned and hugged me. Cue a horde of butterflies in stomach. This was so unexpected. Highly fuçking unexpected.
