Even though I was crazy busy, Monday and Tuesday passed by in the blink of an eye.
The office was buzzing because the latest issue of the magazine was just about to be published.
Everyone was going bonkers, rushing here and there, not paying much attention to where they were actually walking or running.
Poor Mr Packard fell down and sprained his ankle because of that.
I almost broke my nose and my pelvis on Monday. Almost. I had the pleasure of colliding with dearest Victor Duhamel. Thrice.
It happened when I was waiting in the reception area for the lift. When it opened, a throng of officials came out of the damned lift. No one paid attention if they were brutally pushing me or not. Tch tch. Not to worry. I was a pro at avoiding, well, everything. But alas, after successfully dodging almost everyone, fate had it in for me and I crashed into someone. That someone being Victor.
"Oh I'm so so-" Victor stopped mid sentence as he apologized for the third time. He was the only one who apologized to the ones he bumped into. I, on the other hand, grabbed whatever I could to stop my fall.
And I got a hold of his collar. Silly little me. I should have grabbed his arms or something more muscular again. Not some stupid piece of clothing. He was handsome alright but damn he had some muscle on that hot bod. Of course I knew. I had grabbed his shoulder and his back the previous two times I had managed to fall.
He held me mid fall, his hands firmly on my back and mine clutching his collar and neck.
"Its you. Again." Victor said, amused.
"Oops?" I giggled.
"You've gotta find someone else to bump in with, Violet. I'm busy." He rolled his eyes.
"So am I." I said scoffed.
"Hey you two! Get to work! Chop chop!" Elijah commanded as he passed by, clicking his fingers, laughing as he did.
Quickly we detangled ourselves, all the while suppressing our laughter and went our respective ways.
Getting to Tuesday. Ugh. I spent my day in the editorial department.
Since Calum was no where to be found, yet, Elijah had directed me to go and help in the editorial unit. They could use all the working brains, mouths and any pair of eyes, hands, ears. You name it.
I did all the things I could. Sometimes I helped the column editors make the article more catchy. Because honestly, with the way they had been working non stop over the weekend, I was sure their literary and creative juices had gone out of stock. But even then, they were downright impressive.
I even made rounds for coffee. Habitual or not, my feet were killing me in the heels because of the large amount of walking I had been doing and I really needed to take them off.
Later that day I sneaked into one of the offices that were unoccupied to have a little snack because I was famished and I needed a break. Sitting on one of the love seats arranged in a corner, I sighed in satisfaction when the delectable aroma of my salad hit me.
I almost froze in the midst of opening my chicken salad container when someone whispered, "Sharing is caring," in my ear.
Were there unavenged, hungry ghosts lurking in the Vogue office?
