Chapter 39

We took him home. Aiden was there. Derek went to the room he was staying and we were alone.

L: How is it possible to know about werewolves at 15 and not at 25?

A: Let me remind you that werewolves, except from going in your brain to look for memories, can also take or give you that.

Me: That's why he knew then and not now. Just like Deaton doesn't remember. Mom must have taken their memories, but why?

A: Maybe to protect them... But of course, now it makes sense; I should have thought about it sooner.

Me: What?

A: A long time ago, we heard a story. The son of a werewolf fell in love with a hunter. It was a big deal back then. The boy's mom was forced to take his memories. I was little then and I believed it was just another story parents said so that we would avoid the hunters.

Me: Now it makes sense. I am going to my brother.

I can't believe that my mother knew all these years and didn't tell us anything. She did it to protect us, but not knowing is even worse. I reached his room and got in.

Me: Are you okay?

D: Yes, but I want to see my parents' friends.

Me: Noah and Melissa?

D: Yes, can i?

Me: Um, yes.

I couldn't refuse that; he could sneak out and go on his own which would be worse. So, I informed Isaac and told him to tell everything to them and inform them. Also, Olivia hid because we couldn't let Derek see her. When we arrived, Noah was furious but didn't show it, for Derek's shake. I could smell it.

When the time to leave came, Noah didn't let me. Aiden left with Derek. Noah called Olivia.

N: What were you thinking?

He said furiously.

Mel: Noah, please.

N: But they lied to us. And not only that, you went to Mexico to save Derek alone. Not to mention that you went to a house full of hunters.

Me: They didn't do anything to us though.

N: Except electrocuting you.

Me: I see he told you everything.

N: Yes.

Me: I know you're mad.

N: That's what you think? I'm worried. All of you, except Olivia, are supernatural creatures; they could have killed you. You were lucky.

O: We're sorry, you're right. We won't do it again.

N: You always say that.

Mel: What your father is trying to say is that we don't want you hiding things from us. You can go, because even if we forbid it you're going to it anyway. That's what I say. You have to tell us though, because we won't know if something happens to you and maybe we will have to cover for you.

O: The boys knew.

N: I can't make any sense with you anymore.

Mel: Olivia, honey, I think you understand what I'm trying to say. Luna, you're free to go. Just think about what we told you.

I left and went home. I found Aiden and Derek playing PlayStation. It was time to go to bed. At some point during the night, I woke up from the sound of the door. I got up, went to my brother's room but it was empty!

Me: AIDEN!

I yelled and he came immediately.

A: What happened?

Me: My brother is gone! I can't believe it, I had one thing to do and I blew it! I lost my brother!

A: We will find him; we'll follow his scent. Please, don't worry.

Me: I'll... I'll tell Isaac what happened and he can deal with him after. I can't... I can't take care of him, as it seems. I had to look after him once and I couldn't do it.

We got dressed quickly and got out to search for him. His scent was coming from the college. Why? We saw Peter when we arrived there. What is he doing here?

Me: What are you doing here?

P: Your brother's scent brought me here.

Me: Yes, but I can't see him anywhere.

P: That's because he's in the crypt.

Me: He's where? We have a crypt?

P: Yes, but this isn't the time for the conversation.

We heard a strange noise.

Me: What was that?

P: I have an idea. I saw something before. He's with Kate. It's called a Berserker. They are creatures covered with animal bones. Kate somehow managed to take it on her side.

Me: Peter, go to Derek. We'll go to the Berserkers.

Derek's POV

I was lying on bed but something didn't stick with me. I don't know why. Suddenly, my phone's screen lights up. I take it in my hands and see it is Kate. I answer immediately and she tells me to meet her at the crypt we have at the College, here at Beacon Hills. I get up and get dressed. I leave quietly and go to the crypt. There I see Kate waiting for me.

Ka: You're late.

Me: I had to leave without being noticed.

Ka: Fine, open it now.

Me: I don't know... Maybe I shouldn't?

Then she kissed me.

Ka: Little Derek, don't you trust me?

Me: I trust you.

Ka: Then, open it.

Me: Okay.

I put my hand in a circle on a wall where the name of the college and our town was written. When I span it and pulled my hand out, the wall opened and we went in the crypt. I took theTriscelion and gave it to Kate. Then she screamed.

Ka: It doesn't work.

P: Maybe if you turn it around you'll see it says "Made in China".

I heard Peter saying.

Me: What are you doing here?

P: It was a good idea to bring him back to the age he trusted you, in order to take the charm. You know, it never really worked. We used it for the young werewolves as training wheels until they could control themselves.

Ka: Then it is useless.

She said and threw it on the ground. I heard Luna roar and I left.
