Chapter 12

It's been a week since mom's death and nothing happened. It's like the vampires disappeared. I went to the cemetery to my mom. I actually go there everyday for mom and dad. I talk to them. I tell them about my day and stuff but this time there was a boy looking at my father's graveyard. Weird.

"Um...excuse me. Who are you and what are you doing here?" I asked.

"I'm Luke....Luke Patterson. Your stepbrother. I came here to visit dad and then I found your mom is dead too. I'm sorry."

Wait I have a stepbrother? How? Then all flashbacks started to appear in my head.
Flashback:
Me and Monica were with father and a woman. Yea she was our stepmother and they had an older boy. We were playing when we heard someone screaming and then dad came with blood on his shirt.

Anyway that means dad married two women. And Luke's mom was his first wife then our mom.

That's all I remember. I hugged him and thanked him for coming.

"Actually my mom is very ill so we had to move in Virginia to get her in a better hospital and she's there now." He said.

"I hope she gets well soon." I invited him to dinner today so he came home with me. When we got home everyone was shocked that we have a stepbrother but Monica and Ethan.

"Hey." Luke said.

"Hey Luke...Patterson." Ethan said.

"Um...you know me?"

"Yea of course." Luke just looked at me weirdly and I shrugged it's not like I know and I'm hiding from him. Dinner was ready so we all sat by the table. It was awkward silence for awhile. Then Monica made it more awkward by saying,:

"So um...me and Violet made the thing."

The thing? What thing? That sounds cheesy. Could Monica be lesbian and she's hiding it from me? But then it hit me and Noah was dumb enough to say it.

"The spell?" He asked so I hit him with my leg under the table. He chocked on his food. I gave Monica a death glare for mentioning it in the first place cause luke stared at me begging for help but I ignored him. I'm not just going to say Violet and Monica are witches and the two frenemies are vampires that would be insane. He might think I'm crazy or something...

"What spell?" Luke asked. "What's going on here?" He was curious.

"Nothing. Um...I think you should go now Luke." I can't believe I just said that. That was really rude but there wasn't any other choice right?

"Um...ok? Thanx for the dinner it was nice meeting you all of you and Ella you have my number if u need anything just give me a call." I nodded and gave him a smile. I closed the door behind him and went to Monica.

"Really? You could just tell us when he leaves." Like seriously what's wrong with her? I was just leaving when she stopped me.

"Ella, Luke knows everything." I glared at her. What does she mean Luke knows everything? She just went.

"Monica..wait...wait!" I ran after her but Zach stopped me.

"Violet is doing the spell now." He said. I followed him to her and everyone else. Monica and Violet were saying strange words like in Harry Potter. I think it's Latin. Monica suddenly started bleeding from her nose.

"Monica stop!!" I shouted. Violet looked at Monica and she immediately stopped when she saw the blood. Monica was falling on the floor but Ethan catched her and put her on the couch. She winced in pain. I held her hand. She was now feeling better.

"We can't do the spell alone. We need one more witch besides Monica is too weak." Violet explained.

"If mom was here maybe she would have done it with you guys." I said looking down. "But maybe we can wait until she's back."

"I hate to tell you this Ella but she's already gone. She's dead. She can't be here anymore." Aaron said.

"Maybe she can. Maybe she's not dead."

"What do you mean?" Noah asked.

"Look!" I said and gave them the note my mom left me.

"I'll be back Ella. I promise." He read out loud.

"What does that even mean?" Zach asked.

"I don't know but I think mom is not completely dead I think she's stuck between death and life so that means she's half alive and half dead. That's why we can't see her but she can see us. Maybe she could help. I'll do anything to make that happen.
