CHAPTER 1 - THE STRANGE AURA
BEATRIXIA
"I will kill you! And you can't do anything ab-"
I was awakened because of my dream. I held my chest while panting, inhaling and exhaling to calm myself after that brutal dream. Thank goodness I got to open my eyes.
"Bea! Beatrixia! Come down na, anak, male-late ka na niyan!" I heard my mother's yell.
I just took that dream out of my mind. I stood up and slid the curtains and did the same with the sliding windows in my room so I felt the breezing air. I love how it feels the same every morning.
It's 4:30 A.M. I am already used to wake up early. It's our first day in school today and it might just be an orientation, but...I don't know. In our family's tradition, it is normal for us to study high school in a school or university far from home.
I'm now a Grade 8 student, I already adjusted. The culture shock stage finally expired out of my soul because I started living with my best friend in a dormitory unit when I was just Grade 7. At least I'm always with Riann, my best friend.
"Sweetie, don't ever go out of your room if you don't have any important things to do. Never ever leave your place alone without any accompanies. And! Adelaide, don't leave each other, huh?" said my mom and I just nodded and smiled while chewing my breakfast.
"And also, I know that you might be getting irritated whenever I'm reminding this to you repeatedly, but please do not trust guys or anyone you don't know more than you trust Adelaide. We just want you to be independent and educated, not harassed. Okay? Hmm?" Now, that was my dad.
Adelaide is Riann. Riann is Adelaide. I call my best friend as "Riann", and I don't know why my parents call her in an opposite way as I do.
"Yes, dad. I'm not irritated, though. Don't be too judgmental," I chuckled. They just smiled as a response so we could continue eating our breakfast.
I already packed my things up for today. I prepared one baggage, one backpack for personal things with a small sling bag inside, and one backpack for academic stuffs.
"Hello, Beatrixia Taclas! Trixia! Trix! Beatrix! Bea loves! What's up!" Bungad na kaingayan ni Riann habang pumapasok ng kotse.
"What's down with a Riann Adelaide Lopez, huh?" I said and she almost spit the coffee inside her mouth to me.
"Ang ganda kaya ng name ko, duh!" Bawi niya.
"Yeah, yeah. Your name's pretty." I said, she just smiled.
"Magda-drive na po ako, ma'am. Biyahe na po tayo. Pakisabi nalang po kung magsa-stop over para mai-hinto ko." Our driver said.
"Yes po," I replied.
"I hate early living," Riann said, taking a sip on her coffee.
"Early...early living...? What?" I asked, confused.
"I mean, look Bea. In the opposite world of our world, dying is sleeping permanently. So, sleeping is dying temporarily, that's just it!" She explained, grinning.
