CHAPTER 22 - JUST LIKE THE BIBLE STORIES

"Kumain ka na?" tanong ni Riann sa'kin pagka-upo ko sa gilid niya. We're currently admiring the view from above. Naka-upo kaming dalawa sa puno, leaning our backs towards the branches.
"Yep, you?" I asked, too, and she nodded as a reply.
We maintained to be solemn. Silence covered us, no one dared to break the ice. As I looked at her, she's crying. She wiped her tears and acted like nothing happened.
"Why're you crying?" I asked her, she looked at me in disbelief.
"Crying? Me?" She chuckled aloud then stopped. "Y-yes..." she suddenly bursted into tears. "Kilala mo talaga ako 'no?"
"Of course. You're my best friend. Do you miss your parents?" I asked her. She nodded silently. I gave her my handkerchief and she used it to wipe the tears forming in her eyes.
"A-ano ba ang ginawa natin? Bakit ba tayo nandito? M-may ginawa ba tayong masama, hm? Naging mabuting estudyante naman tayo mula highschool h-hanggang ngayon, ah? B-Bakit--ahh..." She cried and cried.
I went near her and hugged her. Mabuti naman at medyo malaki ang espasyo ng punong ito kung kaya't madali akong makakalapit sa kaniya ng hindi nalalaglag. She cried on my arms. Nangangalay na ako, pero wala akong pakialam. My best friend needs me now.
"Shh... just cry, Riann. Just cry. After crying, back to strong mode ka na, ha? I know that we're facing a very hard crisis right now, and all of us are struggling as of the moment," sabi ko. She faced me and looked at me as I stated my words of wisdom. "Remember Noah's ark? Noah, his family and all the good human beings didn't do anything to make God angry. They experienced a massive storm, not just any storm, it was a storm that destroyed the whole Earth back then. They were inside that ark, praying everyday. Noah had Faith in God, so he prayed with his family and with all of the animals inside."
I smiled.
"He sent a crow, but the crow came back with nothing in its beak. After that, he sent a dove, and several days after, the dove came back with a piece of branch with leaves on it. They never lost hope because God is with them, and they knew that they will survive that terrible storm. They landed on an island, where everything they needed was abundant, then, came the rainbow which appeared in the bright sky, as a symbol of peace together with the dove, and as God's promise that he will never send a terrible storm like that again."
"What are you trying to say?" she asked.
"Trust and have faith in God, because everything depends on Him. Just like Noah's story, think of our situation as if we're inside a gigantic ark, and outside of it, a terrible storm is happening. They prayed and prayed and sent a crow and a dove, until the dove came back with a leaf. Just like the dove, the time will come that a good news will be delivered to us, and that good news is our way towards freedom, hmm? Just like Noah's story, we will land in an island, outside from this forest, away from this madness where we will be free from this terrible storm that's happening right now. Just like Noah's story, we will face this crisis together, united, with God beside us until we will get our from here. Until our ark lands in a safe island, we will not stop fighting and praying. Just like Noah's story, we will survive and live our lives with God beside us, watching us everyday. So don't lose hope and faith, alright?" She hugged me tightly.
"Ikaw talaga ang the 'bestest' best friend, ever!"
I hugged her back and then smiled.
