The Lost Chance

Meet The Parents

   When the day in the studio was over, Fabian went back to Camila to try and talk to her. Camila though was clueless about the importance of the situation, so she just blabbed about her performance and how she felt that she made a mistake, which Fabian didn't believe.

   As they were heading out, Franny bumped into Camila and almost fell down, but Camila quickly held Franny's hand and pulled her closer. Fabian's mother realized this so she ran over to the two girls. The moment Fabian saw his mother he felt uneasy, that was the first time he had seen his mother since his death, he couldn't help but wonder if she was upset or happy by his decision.

   Fabian's mother held Franny's hand and tried pulling her closer to her, but Camila, who was unsure if the woman was Franny's mother, pulled Franny back. "I'm sorry are you her mother?" Camila asked.

   Fabian nodded to Camila's question, but his mother replied: "Yes I am, and you are?"

   Camila let go of Franny's hand and apologized: "I am sorry, I didn't know. Usually Lena picks her up. I have never seen you before so I was unsure whether to let Franny go to you or not." 

   Fabian's mother smiled: "That's very nice of you young lady, thank you for looking out for my daughter. And I am assuming you are Lena's friend?"

   Camila answered: "Sort of, we met twice and agreed to be friends, especially since she's been going through a hard time, but I am very shy so I don't really know how to make the first move in friendship." 

   Fabian's mother laughed: "You remind me of my son, he was shy too. Do you want to come over? Lena has been in her room all day, I think she would like some company."

   Fabian nodded hoping that Camila would go, especially since he wanted to see how his parents have been. Camila saw Fabian's message so she agreed to go.

   When Fabian's mother got to the car, she opened the door for both Camila and Franny to go in. When Camila went into the car, she saw a man in the front seat, Fabian, who sat next to Camila told her that the man was his father.

   "Honey, this is Lena's friend. What did you say your name was?" Fabian's mother asked.

   "Camila." Camila answered in a low voice.

   "Yes, Camila. Can you believe it? Anyways Camila, I am Natalia, and this is my husband Lloyd. We are Lena's aunt and uncle. You can call us by our first names, any friend of Lena is a friend to the family" Fabian's mother explained.

   "Nice to meet you." Camila whispered.

   "Camila, do you go to Lena's university?" Lloyd asked.

   "I don't think so. I met her in the studio when she was picking up Franny. I am a senior dancer, so I had to stay with the teacher during the recital." Camila answered, still unable to speak in her usual voice.

   "Isn't that great? You never know, maybe you can help Franny when she grows up." Natalia excitedly replied.

   "Camila, are you able to help Lena?" Lloyd questioned, in a serious tone. Natalia eyed her husband then gave Camila a soft smile, awaiting her reply.

   "Uh, I wasn't aware that Lena had a problem. I just thought that she needed a friend because all of her other friends left her. That's what she told me." Camila answered.

   "So that's why none of them have been coming over." Natalia concluded. "But do you know why she's been in her room a lot when Franny wasn't around?"

   "I am not so sure. Maybe she's been going through something, people who are upset or anxious like to be alone." Camila replied.

   Fabian let out a loud laugh. The thought that Lena was upset didn't make sense, he saw how Lena was acting, there was no way she was upset. She might have been acting the way she has for attention, now that he was out of the picture, she could take his place.

   Natalia's face though was the opposite of Fabian, she was deeply concerned. She always considered Lena her daughter, and since she already lost two children, she was scared to lose a third. She has been regretting not being involved in Fabian's life ever since he died, and now the thought of it happening again made her worry for Lena's life. 

   The rest of the car ride was awkward, especially when it started to rain, Franny fell asleep on Camila's lap and Camila didn't know what to do except make sure that she doesn't fall and hurt herself.
