Failure

Ever since we escaped from that crazy scientist I felt like my life was shaking upon its pillars. Not because of him or what he did, no. He was just an additional individual to the bunch of people gone crazy during the apocalypse. Nothing new here.

What I felt different about was Murphy. To this point, our ''relationship'' had been indeterminate. It was just a mixture of hate, lust, forceful conversations, drunk talk, and tears. I liked him of course but I tried not to put too many feelings into it since he seemed to be a ladies-man after all.

But this time I felt like I finally saw inside his heart and found out there was a place for me. I wasn't just a drag-along character but rather someone he might want to keep around, no matter the circumstances.

Flashback to that day

- '' Can you walk?'', Murphy asked as he had carried me for some time.

- '' I think so, yes'', I said while testing my shaky legs. My grip on his hand was still very tight, just in case. We got out of that house of terror and crossed paths with Warren and the rest of the group.

- '' Well you didn't seem to hurry'', Murphy said with an annoyed tone.

- '' What are you talking about, man? We've been looking for you everywhere'', Doc said as he was almost panting from running towards us.

- '' Yeah, where the hell did you go like that? Should put a leash on you'', Vasquez was joining too. I felt Murphy dense up, he definitely didn't like Vasquez.

- '' We could have used some help back there, that dude was out of his mind. He tried to turn us into some kind of circus monkeys'', Murphy kept going. I was just relieved to be alive but I noticed that he never let go of my hand, even when he was ready to throw hands at Vasquez. It made me feel safe and needed.

Flashback ends

But that was then and this is now and a lot has happened afterward. And currently, we were at a party, held by the zeroes. Odd, I know, but stay with me here. They kidnapped us and once they realized that we had Murphy with us they wanted to be our friends. Or ''friends'' but we were not exactly allowed to leave at our own will. The zeroes were led by a woman called La Reina and her ''loyal'' guard Scorpio.

The first day they simply took Murphy away from us to work with the doctor who, crazy I know, is that same creepy doctor from the lab AND from the plantation. I had a very hard time trusting him but they left us no choice and besides, Murphy seemed to be okay with it.

- '' See you at dinner darlings'', he said, and afterward, we didn't see him anymore until now, here, at the party. They made us dress up really nicely and for the first time in a long, long time I was wearing make-up. Their dark, dangerous style wasn't exactly my piece of cake but once again, I had no choice.

Back to Murphy. La Reina seemed to be really keen on him, I mean, for more reasons than just him being the only possible way to survive the zombie virus. She kept eyeing him and being very touchy which, of course, made me feel rather jealous and possessive. But Murphy was too busy enjoying the sudden respect and attention he was getting from everyone. Currently, he was sitting on a throne with people bringing him roses and kissing his hand out of respect, and just like the rest of them, we were supposed to do that too.

But I didn't have a rose, I only had questions, and once it was my turn to greet him, he looked at me with an arrogant expression.

- ''Where's my rose, sweetie?''.

- '' What's going on? Why are you so pleased? What did the doctor do to you?'', I burst out all the questions that nobody could answer to me.

- '' Wow, easy there. Everything has a place and a time'', he said like it was nothing.
