Return to the apocalypse

I was standing in an elevator with Murphy and Dr. Teller, dressed up as Zona's guard. Dr. Teller was really stingy with giving us information about the situation Zona was in, he just kept repeating things like '' It will all make sense'' and '' You need to trust me''. Every time he would say such things, Murphy would start to argue with him again. My heart was racing fast, I just felt like something big was happening.

- '' Here's the plan for you; get into the helicopter, and do not tell your identity to anyone there. Once you are landed, you'll have to find a group of survivors and stick with them. The two of you have a very slim chance of surviving together'', Dr. Teller went on.

- '' Excuse me, where exactly are we going?'', Murphy scoffed. Teller gave him a desperate look that told us enough. Back to the apocalypse we go.

The elevator reached the roof of the building, and the helicopter's noise overwhelmed everything else. Since I couldn't hear anything, I turned to look at Dr. Teller waving us to get on the chopper, and I wasted no time doing so. Murphy followed behind me as we got in just in time. All I could see was Dr. Tellers' figure getting smaller and smaller as we flew off.

The chopper landed in the middle of nowhere. There was a car waiting for us, and all the soldiers packed themselves inside it, but we managed to sneak away into the bushes.

- '' Now what?'', I whispered.

- '' How should I know? I'm still shocked and upset that we had to return here'', Murphy grunted. Nothing had changed here, everything looked deserted and depressing. No signs of humans, but no zombies either. Just then we heard the noise of a car and hid in a ditch. But something was off with the car, it was switching from side to side, clearly out of control. Then it finally hit a tree, and that was the end of it. Nobody was getting out of the car, so we carefully went to check what was going on. The driver had been killed, but there was someone in the backseat, laying down. It was a young woman with curly, blonde hair, that was all I could see. I opened the door and I noticed that she was still alive and moving. She turned to look in our direction, and that's when I realized it was Lucy.

- '' Lucy!'', I yelled and started to help her out of the car.

- '' Mom?'', she asked, clearly confused, almost as if she thought she was hallucinating this. I took her in for a tight hug.

- '' My god, you are alive!'', I cried, holding my daughter. The last time I saw her, she was a teenager. Now she was an adult, which was odd since we could almost pass as sisters rather than daughter and mother. Just then Lucy noticed Murphy behind me.

- '' Dad?'', she asked, calmer now.

- '' It's me baby girl'', Murphy said, going in for a hug but Lucy took a step back.

- '' Where have you been?'', she asked, now sounding irritated. Just then we heard the sound of guns being ready to fire, and we turned to look where the sound came from.

- '' Get away from her'', I heard a familiar voice say, and it was no other than Warren, with Doc and 10K behind her.

- '' Warren! It's us!'', I quickly said before taking off my ''disguise'' as Zona's guard. Warren put her gun down, looking shocked.

- '' Y/N? Murphy?'', she said before walking to us with a smile on her face. She hugged both of us tightly.

-'' Where the hell did you guys come from?'', she asked as everyone was now relaxed with the situation.

- '' From paradise'', Murphy mumbled, he was clearly upset about the fact Lucy wasn't too keen on seeing him.

- '' There's lots catching up to do. But not here. Let's get to safety first''.

Together we drove to a fortress that was surrounded by spiked gates and fences. We left the car outside and walked inside the fortress, being greeted by two people from the military. We walked inside a tent to discuss the current situation.

- '' Alright now pals, care to explain where you came from?'', Doc asked once we were inside the tent. I looked at Murphy and he looked at me as if we'd be asking who starts.

- '' We came from Zona'', Murphy started.

- '' So Zona is real?'', the other person from the military, a male one, asked.

- '' Yes, or I mean it was. And it was great. 2 years without any fear, famine or struggling'', Murphy continued.

- '' Yeah well, can't relate to that. Would have been very friendly of you to reach out for us'', Doc commented.

- '' We were told everyone was dead''. The military man turned to look at me as if he was asking me to tell my part of the story.

- '' I don't know much. I was in a coma for 2 years'', I simply said.

- '' Alright then. But here's the plan for now; we are heading to Newmerica. A convoy should have arrived here already to pick us up by now, but we are still waiting. I don't know what's taking them so long'', the male soldier explained.

- '' Newmerica? Where the hell is that?'', Murphy asked.

- '' In Canada''.

- '' Canada?! No way I'm going there. It's far away and it's cold. And what is this Newmerica anyway?''.

- '' It's the future. A place where we can rebuild humanity again''.

- '' Why do I feel like I've heard this before'', Murphy rolled his eyes. I noticed Lucy leave the tent. She was really quiet and avoided us. I followed her outside.

- '' Hey, is there something wrong?'', I asked her. She hesitated for a while before speaking up.

- '' No. Yes. I don't know. I just don't know how to feel about knowing you didn't come to look for me'', she said.

- '' I understand, but I want you to also understand that I wasn't able to do that while being in a coma'', I answered. Just then Murphy joined our conversation, and Lucy looked at him.

- '' Yeah I know. Just wondering why didn't he do anything'', she continued, glaring at her father.

- '' Hold on, what am I being accused of now?'', Murphy defended himself.

- '' You didn't reach out to me for 2 years. You just accepted I was gone'', Lucy snapped at him.

- '' I thought you were dead, I mourned you for 2 years, and I wasn't sure if Y/N would survive either'', Murphy continued.

- '' Yeah well, you didn't have to do all that. I was here'', Lucy ended the conversation and walked off. Murphy sighed out of frustration.

- '' Why does she remind me of you?'', he asked but didn't expect an answer. Just then the other person from the military, the female one, came out from the tent.

- '' We should go now'', she said.

- '' To Newmerica?'', Murphy asked.

- '' East'', Warren suddenly said. Everyone turned to look at her in confusion.

- '' We have to go east''.

//Alright fellas, let's rock n roll and so on. I did fix some of the grammar errors in this story ( I'm no longer surprised that I didn't score well in my English finals 3 years ago) The story is indeed chaotic but so is the show, and I suppose we are all here for the romance and not for an astonishing and original reading experience. Hopefully, yall can stick to the end with me <3
