Runaway

After Merch passed, I felt empty. I felt somehow like it was no use to even try and fight this back anymore, I had no allies. So I went to that place wherever I go when I feel sad; Lucy's room.

My eyes noticed something unusual with Lucy's crib. It looked like something was hidden under the mattress. I walked closer and lifted the mattress up to see a bag. I looked around to make sure I was alone before opening the bag. It was full of tubes with liquids inside them and a note. I opened the note to see Dr. Merch's handwriting.

- '' Y/N. These are the vaccines that will get you out of Murphy's control. Take them with you and leave immediately. Don't wait. You might be the only person who can be able to stop this. After you are in a distance, take the first shot, and another the next day. And whatever you do, DON'T GO BACK TO HIM'', the note said and I felt the adrenaline run through my veins. This was it. This could be my way out.

Then I started to feel the presence of Murphy getting closer. How? My body was being dragged towards him. I knew I had to do something before it was too late. Before he'd see me or get too close because then I wouldn't be able to leave and he'd find out what was going on. I looked around me but there was no place to hide. So I did the only thing I could and opened the window and climbed up on it.

The drop was pretty high since the building was very big and we were on the second floor. But there was the platform of a car underneath me that might catch me. Or kill me.

- '' Sweetie, where are you?'', I heard Murphy call for me and the warm, loving feeling inside me got stronger. I had to do it before it was too late. So I jumped. I felt like I was flying. But I had no wings and gravity was very cruel. I felt unreal and closed my eyes. The moment seemed to last forever.

Until my body slammed against the car's roof, making great damage to it. It didn't feel unreal anymore; the pain was very much real. It was aching everywhere on my body and I wasn't sure if I broke something or not. But I knew if I wouldn't get up now it would be too late. So I did, I dragged myself to my feet and started to walk before picking up my speed and finally running.

- '' Y/N!'', I heard my name being called from the distance, I didn't know who it was and I didn't want to find out either, I forced my legs to keep on going and it almost felt like I wasn't the master of my own body anymore. I was something else; I was a deer running away from its prey. I've always wondered how it feels like to run for your life, won't you get short-breathed at some point? But I couldn't feel my body at all, I was flying. I didn't even care which way I was going as long as it was far, far away from Murphy.

- '' I hate you, I hate you, I hate you'', I kept chanting in my head at each step that hit the ground and pushed my body forward.

- '' Y/N, come back, come back to me. I can't go on without you. Where did you go? Get back here now'', I heard Murphy's voice in my head as he was calling me.

- '' Get out! Get out of my head!'', I screamed.

A run that lasted for 15 minutes took me far enough before I was starting to run out of adrenaline. Suddenly my body started to feel the pain again; my right hip felt like it was dislocated and my lungs were about to burst out of my chest. I fell down a ditch because of my limping but that was only to my advantage because the cars that were set after me didn't see me there. I was lying in the muddy, wet ditch and tried to gather my body together. I felt like I was part of nature now and I kinda wanted to be.

I don't know how long I was there but I guess I fell into a sleep caused by shock. I tried to get up but my hip was hurting me ten times worse now. My head was in pain too and I just hoped I didn't get a concussion from my jump off the window. I had to sit there for a while and gather myself together before slowly getting up. If I felt like a feather when I was running, it was paying back now; I've never felt myself so heavy before. I started to limp up the ditch to see if there were anyone looking for me.

I couldn't see anything but I decided to stay hidden anyway, just in case. I knew Murphy wouldn't give up on looking for me that easily but I had to carry on my trip so I kept on walking. After a while, I heard a car coming from the opposite direction and I looked really closely to see who it was. I didn't know the guy at all so I supposed that he wouldn't be one of the blends.

So I decided to do something risky as hell and get in the middle of the road to stop the car.

- '' Get off the road before I drive over you!'', the man in the car yelled.

- '' I will if you take me with you!'', I yelled back.

- '' Last warning; get off''.

- '' Or what?''. I felt determined and kept walking closer and closer to the car so that he couldn't even catch up with his speed if he was about to drive over me.

- '' Look, I don't want to kill you, I don't care about you, just get off'', the man said but I still didn't move.

- '' Let me get in'', I insisted.

- '' Fine. But if you try anything I will slit your throat open'', he said and I jumped in the car happily.

- '' I won't try anything because I don't have a single weapon with me. I just need to get to Springfield or even just closer. I think I broke my hip'', I started to explain even if he didn't care at all.

- '' Brave to hop on a random guy's car like that without weapons'', he commented.

- '' Thanks''.

- '' It wasn't a compliment''.

- '' Yeah, whatever. And I don't even care if you kidnap and kill me, anything's better than where I came from'', I mumbled. He didn't ask me any questions about it and it fit just fine for me. Anything was fine for me, especially with the fact that Murphy was so far away that I couldn't even hear his calls anymore. Which reminded me of the vaccines in my bag.

- '' I have diabetes, do you mind if I take my medicine?'', I lied.

- '' How the hell have you survived this far with diabetes?''.

- '' Stealing'', I said and carefully took one of the tubes out, filled a needle with the liquid, and injected it into my thigh. The bitemark on my back started to ache but I tried to hide my pain. Eventually, the pain stopped and I let out a deep sigh.

- '' I guess you got lucky since I am going to Springfield too. It will take some driving'', the man suddenly said.

- '' What's your business there?'', I asked.

- '' Nothing I can share with you''.

- '' Alright Mr. Serious''.

- '' Don't call me that''.

- '' Okay Mr. Clean''.

// Adrenaline is super cool tbh. Got once bitten by a hybrid wolf and the pain started at home.
