Future awaits

Our little escape boat hit the shore once the submarine had blown up in million pieces. Murphy hopped off the boat and helped me get out too.

- '' What now? Are we gonna go look for Warren and the rest of them?'', I asked.

- '' Not quite. Everyone, get on the cars'', Murphy ordered the crew who obeyed him with no questions.

- '' You too, sweetie'', he turned to me and I got on the front seat of a jeep. Murphy hopped on the driver's side and made sure that everyone was on.

- '' Where are we heading to?'', I asked.

- '' It's a surprise. But I'm sure you'll like it''.

The road was really bumpy. Or I mean it wasn't even a road.

- '' Is there something wrong? You seem quiet'', Murphy commented.

- '' Everything is happening so fast'', I mumbled.

- '' I know. But soon it will be okay. Everything will become stable, and a new time begins'', Murphy said and I had no idea what the hell he was talking about.

- '' What do you mean? What are we gonna do with them?'', I asked, referring to the crew he bit.

- '' Don't worry about it, I have a plan for them. You don't have to worry about anything anymore, I'll take care of that'', Murphy said and sounded like he had some kind of greater plan. I didn't know how to answer him so I kept quiet.

- '' I know what you are thinking, it was wrong of me to turn them and blah blah. But think about the bright side; they seem to think more on their own than they used to. I just made sure they will be on our side''.

- '' This is it, baby. This is what I wanted to show you'', Murphy said as we arrived at a city. It was a big one and through it ran a big river.

- '' Come on'', he said and drag us along a big building that apparently used to be some kind of museum.

- '' This city will be ours. And this building will be turned into a luxury home for you and me''. I looked around and wasn't sure if I was feeling the same feelings he was. For me, the building just looked like an empty museum with a few corpses. Not really the type I'd call home.

- '' Ah, Dr. Merch! This could be your working room! Plenty of space, just for you'', Murphy said as he reached one of the rooms upstairs.

- '' What will she be working on exactly?'', I asked.

- '' Whatever I feel like. A cure. A vaccine. Something to save me. Save you. The usual'', Murphy said before taking my hand and leading me along.

- '' Come on, let's look for something that would cheer you up'', he said.

- '' This could be the bedroom. Wide windows, nice view...what do you think?''.

- '' A bedroom? For who?'', I asked and crossed my arms.

- '' For us, of course. You and me'', Murphy said and turned to look at me.

- '' If you want, of course. There are other rooms too'', he added.

- '' This is fine'', I said and looked around. Yeah, maybe I could see it. Some curtains over the windows would be nice. Oh, and a bed. A big bed? A real bed with a soft mattress? Yeah, that would be heaven right there.

- '' But where do we get all the stuff?'', I asked.

- '' Oh honey, that's why we have all these servants'', Murphy said and spun me around a bit. I smiled but still gave him a reminding face.

- '' Fine, not servants. People who are willing to do things to us'', he fixed and I accepted that. He pulled me closer to him from my waist as if he was down to dance with me.

- '' I know it's a bit hard to get used to this but trust me; soon we will be happy. And we will bring Lucy here, finally. Just the three of us'', he spoke to my ear.

- '' Murphy, what are your orders for us?'', one of the soldiers came to the room.

- '' Go clean up corpses or something and get out''.

A week passed and our ''home'' started to look like home too. Everything seemed to settle down and look okay but things were not okay. The word kept spreading about Murphy and his magical bite that would make you immune to the zombies which made people gather at our house, asking for it. At first, Murphy was more than willing to give them a little bit of his teeth but the number of people grew bigger and bigger which made Murphy weaker until he had to stop the people from entering.

This meant more work for the guards and more work for Dr. Merch who was trying to cure Murphy of his slow death and create the vaccine. Or that's what I thought at first. But turns out that the ''vaccine'' was just for the people who wished to be one of Murphy's  ''cured ones''. And that was the part he forgot to tell me.

I thought that this would be the new future where we lived without fear. Without famine and death every single day. But this wasn't it. I wasn't allowed to go outside by myself.

- '' It's not safe for you. You are not immune'', Murphy would say but he made sure that someone was keeping an eye on me all the time. He didn't like me wandering around the house either, for example, whenever he found me in Dr. Merch's room he would ask me very specific questions about why was I there and what did she tell me.

- '' Why won't you go and check on Lucy's room? It's still lacking some furniture and I want your opinion'', he kept herding me off from wherever I was if it wasn't our room. So I sat all day watching out from the window and felt like a prisoner. This wasn't it. I wasn't happy.

// Dear readers, tell me, do you wish Murphy to bite the main character and she breaks free from it kinda like 10K did in the series, or do we keep her bite-free? I'd really enjoy writing about the biting drama. They will face problems anyway so it's up to your liking now.
