Steve stood there, arms crossed, irritated, and holding himself back. The sight of Stephen in his bed sent every demon in Steve's head flying. A million different scenarios of how he wanted to kill Stephen was playing in his head.
"What the hell is he doing in our bed?" Steve raised a brow.
"He got drunk last night and Wong was busy, so I brought him here to keep an eye on him" Tony shrugged.
Steve snapped his head to Tony in shock of what he just heard Tony say. "He was drunk? Did he do anything!?" He furrowed his brows.
"Keep your voice down, he's gonna wake up!" Tony whisper-shouted while pulling Steve out of the room and closing the door so that noise wouldn't go to Stephen.
"I don't fucking care if he wakes up! Did. He. Do. Anything" Steve repeated.
Tony jerked his head back and put a hand on his chest in surprise. "Steven Grant Rogers, your ear better hear the stuff coming out of your mouth- you just used a cuss word. Watch your fucking language" Tony told him.
Steve gave Tony a look that was basically telling him to not try and change the topic. Tony visibly shrank under that look. He was always powerless against that look, so he decided he would just tell the truth. Well...not the whole truth, obviously.
"He didn't do anything bad like you think. He just thought I was Christine, because of the alcohol," Tony shrugged.
Steve didn't know what to make of that. Because from what he knew, Stephen didn't like Christine the way he liked Tony. So he just assumed that Stephen talked to Tony about medical stuff. Because what else would he do with Christine?
"Good for him," Steve replied, not caring about whether or not he sounded petty. "You're not his best friend, or his mom. And you're sure as hell not ever gonna be his boyfriend; so you don't need to be bringing him home and taking care of him like this"
Tony frowned. He really didn't know what Steve had against Stephen. "Actually, I do consider myself his best friend. So yeah, I will take care of him if I need to because that's what best friends do!" Tony defended.
Then the door opened. They both looked to Stephen who was standing there. Tony felt embarrassed now that it was probably his bickering with Steve that woke Stephen up.
"Don't worry, Cap. I'm gonna head back to the sanctum now. But I can't seem to find Levi" Stephen told Steve.
"Oh, I'll go and get him for ya. He followed me down to my lab last night, I think he might still be there" Tony said. He shot Steve a look, telling him not to create a problem with Stephen while he was gone, before turning around to go to the workshop.
Once Tony was out of sight, Steve turned to Stephen. "What do I need to do to get you to understand that he'll never be yours?" Steve crossed his arms.
"My apologies. I didn't mean things to come across that way,"
"Then you should've just used those time control powers of yours and winded time back to before you got drunk so it wouldn't happen"
Stephen paused for a moment. Normally, he'd just internally roll his eyes at whatever Steve said. But right now, it was different.
"Speaking of my 'time controlling powers'..." Stephen started. "I may have the power to look into the future and know about things before they happen, but unless the matter at hand involves the fate of the universe; I cannot just squander my position as Sorcerer Supreme for my own personal agendas. If that was the case, I had no business learning the Mystic Arts in the first place"
Steve raised a brow. He had no clue why Stephen was giving him a whole speech about being the Sorcerer Supreme. He couldn't care less for Stephen's excuses or explanations for his actions. But something in the sincerity and remorse in Stephen's tone made Steve feel he should take his words seriously.
