5 minutes after Natasha and Tony drove off, Ross called. Natasha and Tony weren't surprised. Tony accepted the call.
"Ross?" Tony sighed.
"Tony, what kind of person are you?" Ross breathed in bitter frustration.
"Me? Brunet, hazel eyed, fair skinned, adorable" Tony answered as if it was ridiculous that Ross was asking a question with such an obvious answer.
"You left,"
"You didn't really think we'd fuck, did you?"
"I thought you were a man of your word?"
"Yes, for those I care about. Not for you"
"Tony-"
"Uh, please hold,"
"No, Tony, not again-"
It was too late, Tony hung up before Ross could mutter another word. Natasha snickered and Tony shrugged. Nobody liked Ross, especially not any one of the Avengers.
It took a little over a half hour to get back to the tower, but as soon as they made it home they called everyone to the main floor. Tony explained what happened and left out the part where Ross wanted a little pleasure in return for the files.
Steve was the one to open the files and read them. He had a serious expression on at first, but then his face softened. Everyone looked at him curiously, impatiently waiting for him to tell them what was going on.
"It's not official yet, but they're pushing the case to the side for now because they have 'bigger priorities' " Steve said in joyful disbelief.
"That- God, that's great news!" Clint's face lit up.
Everyone burst out in smiles and joy. "This deserves a celebration tonight" Tony declared.
"Oh, you four can celebrate together. Tony and I have plans" Steve told the others.
"We- Wait- We have plans? What plans?" Tony asked as Steve guided him away from the others
"Yeah. The dinner plans, remember?" Steve reminded him.
Tony's eyes widened upon recalling that he agreed to going out for dinner with Steve. Now he began to internally panic. The little people inside his head were running around yelling "mayday!"
Sure, he did agree to it...at the heat of the moment. And now his brain was working at 200 mph trying to come up with an excuse, when Tony's phone rang.
"Hah! I have to go! I gotta- I gotta take this call, it's a very important call" Tony sped off to the workshop. Steve chuckled and shook his head. Tony made sure to fully close the door behind him after entering the workshop. "Hey, tweety bird" Tony answered.
"Hey, Tony. How are you?" It was Ronan.
"Peachy. You?"
"I'm good, thanks"
"What's up?"
"I just wanted to call and notify you that we officially sealed the deal just now with Ferryn Corp. I just left the meeting and they told me to notify you, although I'm pretty sure Friday already has,"
"Oh, yeah, she told me half an hour ago. But thanks anyway" Tony shrugged. Then an idea popped into his mind. "I do have a few questions though, what do you say we talk over dinner?"
"Sure, sounds good. Wait...you're avoiding Mr. Rogers again, aren't you?"
"...don't ask, don't tell, Tweety bird"
