Since Tony doesn't know what sleep is, he was playing virtual basketball on the holograms. He threw one last shot, and then decided to pack it back up. "Friday, you should take a nap now hon" he said.
"Goodnight, boss" Friday replied.
Tony turned around and went to sit in bed where a naked Steve was sleeping. Tony was half naked himself, only wearing baggy shorts he made himself since the 1800's shorts were hideous. And they were Adam Sandler big, so he was comfy and content.
First he laid on his back and put his foot up against the wall, and then he laid flat on the bed to try and get his finger tips and toes to touch the front and back of the bed, and then he wrote and drew random crap in the air. In the end he just sat up with his back against the head board and he looked down at Steve sleeping peacefully next to him.
He reached a hand out and carded his fingers through Steve's hair. "Sex hair does always look so cute on you. God, a small part of me really wants to trust you, you know that?" he mumbled quietly.
Steve stirred half awake. "Tony?"
"I'm here"
Steve pulled Tony down and placed his chin on Tony's head, wrapping his arms around the little genius. "You need to sleep, Tony" Steve said in his sleep voice. Tony had to tell the butterflies to quiet down upon hearing it.
"I will, but only if you take me somewhere tomorrow" Tony started.
"And have you run away? Not happening" Steve's grip instinctively got tighter.
"I won't. I pinkie promise" Tony hooked his pinkie finger to Steve's.
"Fine. Where do you want to go?"
"Gloomburg" Tony answered.
To that Steve's eyes shot open. "Absolutely not" Steve turned it down.
"Why? Is it a bad place?" Tony frowned.
"I've banned anyone from ever going there again or even talking about it. I've even closed off the original path and now only I know the new one. We never go there and if we do it's for necessities"
"Why though?"
"It's a forest where witches live," Steve answered. It took Tony a moment to realize why Steve really didn't want to bring him there. "If I take you there, you're going to go back to your world, and I already told you I'm not allowing it"
Tony sighed. He didn't want to panic about this, but he was starting to run out of options. And Steve clearly did not plan on budging whatsoever any time soon, so Tony definitely began to panic. But...there has to be a way right? Everything's gonna turn out alright, he'll find a way. He always does.
"Let's not talk about such distasteful topics. C'mon, go to sleep" Steve prompted.
Tony looked up. "I don't do that" he said quietly. Steve chuckled and leaned down to kiss his nose. "And I especially don't stay in the same bed as my ex" Tony sat up and then got out of the bed. Cold air immediately filled where Tony was in Steve's arms just now.
"You slept with me in hopes to convince me into letting you go to Gloomburg, didn't you?" Steve grinned, as if he already knew.
Tony squinted his eyes and glared at him in annoyance. "There's a word for making someone pay you before hand and not telling them you're not gonna give them what they paid for, and that's called manipulation," Tony pointed out irritatedly. "Manipulation and being a fraud. You're basically a manipulative fraud"
"No different than what the intentions were on your end" Steve shrugged.
"...well played" Tony admitted. "It still does not change the fact that I'm not gonna stay in the same bed as you"
"Tony, you mentioned that...that future me h-harmed you? I really hurt you?" Steve remembered.
Tony visibly froze. He hated this topic. He didn't want to talk about it, didn't wanna think about it, didn't wanna remember it. That topic was like a never ending winter for Tony. The world seemed adamant on not letting him get by a week or- or at a least a day without remembering it.
"Yeah, so what. Whatever. I-I mean that's- well, maybe not- and anyway it's not exactly- oh, never mind, forget it" Tony stammered trying time think of a different topic to talk about. "I'm gonna take a shower, and then I'm going to go back to my room" Tony turned right around and sped off into the bathroom.
"The guards won't exactly let you leave but..." Steve shrugged. Then he thought of something. Tony's glasses were on the bedside table, and when Tony explained everything about the suit and how it had the AI system, he also mentioned it was in his glasses to. "Uhmm...Friday? Is- Is that your name? I don't know how to activate this system" he held the glasses in his hand.
"Yes, Captain Rogers?" Friday replied, making Steve jump.
At first he as confused as to why Friday called him 'Captain' but he brushed it off. "What happened to Tony? As in, what did I do to him?" Steve asked.
"On June 24, 2016, Boss was rushed to the hospital. He had bruises and bloody cuts on his face. He required a central line and multiple warmer blankets since his temperature was only at 80°. His heart went into vfib and then back to asystole, so they kept compressions going. Four rounds of epi was administered. Despite that, due to the arc reactor being broken, the shrapnel in his heart was fatal and his heart stopped 3 times-" Friday was explaining.
"Wait wait wait. I didn't understand any of that. This is the 1800's, we do not have such procedures yet" Steve was confused.
So Friday explained everything again but without using medical terms but instead explaining how the medical terms worked and what they did.
That night, Tony surprisingly fell asleep, and Steve held him tight. In fact Steve was the one who didn't sleep all night, thinking about what future him did. He even stopped and listened to Tony's heart beating a couple times that night.

Tony was loitering around in Steve's room, idly fiddling with stuff to pass time, when he heard something fall onto the balcony and shatter. He cautiously walked over to it and found that green glass shards were all over the ground, with a small rolled up paper in the middle of it all.
He picked the paper up and unrolled it.
"With the excuse of 'needing new medicinal herbs for a remedy that can bring wealth' I've gotten the King to show me the way to Gloomburg. It's through the forest behind the castle. Meet me at the back of the tavern tomorrow, and I shall take you there.
