"So this is the young man?" Virgil frowned as he looked around at all the men in suits. There was one man in the middle that had striking blue eyes that felt so cold and lifeless, it made a shiver run down the poor child's back.

"Yes, this is Virgil Storm." The man with the cold eyes bent and held his hand out to the boy making Virgil narrow his eyes in confusion as another hand patted him on the back. "Go on, Virgil."

"Uh... Hi." Virgil weakly shook his hand and watching as the stranger smiled brightly

"It's nice to meet you, young man. My name is, Dr. Myers." Virgil didn't like the feeling he got from him, to be honest. He frowned, trying to step back when the hand on his back pushed him forward again. "We work for the U.S government and we're looking for young men like you to join our... research group."

"I think it's a good idea, Virgil." Virgil could feel his body tensing up. No, it's not. It's not a good idea. It's a very bad idea. "It a great opportunity for you." N-No... it's not. D-Don't go. Don't go or else... "He's already signed the paperwork and everything."

"Splendid." The doctor's voice was a bit low causing Virgil to tense up. DO NOT GO! Virgil watched in the back of his mind as the younger him slowly took the doctor's hand. His own body wasn't listening to him. The doctor led him off and out of the orphanage. The sound of his own screams filled his ears as the scene changed around him. "Another failure."

"We don't have time. Let's go!" Virgil screamed out, praying anyone could hear him. The burning pain that filled his veins took over every sense.

"DON'T JUST LEAVE ME HERE! SOMEONE HELP!" His blood grew cold as the sound of groans filled his ears. He looked over to see two zombies barreling in and his heart completely dropped. He struggled against the bind, tears streaming down his cheeks but to no avail. The dead wasted no time in chomping down on him even as more gunshots tore through the place. Virgil felt the blistering heat coursing through his arm and inner thigh. The pain was excruciating causing his mind to numb out anything else around it... to be completely honest, he couldn't even tell you if the burning came from the bites or whatever it was that the doctor had given him, that STILL traveled through his veins like fire.

"Virgil?!" He just laid there staring at the ceiling feeling as his body gave in to the pain even if his mind wouldn't completely shut down. Tears fell from his eyes as someone picked him up in their arms, his body limp and unresponsive. "VIRGIL!" The poor boy didn't even blink. He just laid there in the man's arms as he ran off. "Don't die on me now, kid. Don't give up."

"This is Daniel. I have Subject Storm and we're on our way to Lake Ariel now." Virgil narrowed his eyes hearing the audio crack. The man just glanced back from the rearview and frowned. "I'm sorry Virgil. I know how you..."

"My name is Virgil Storm. Not Subject Storm. I am not a god damn guinea pig. I am a human being." Daniel narrowed his eyes as the younger glanced down at his gloved wrist. He wasn't... He wasn't some monster you can poke and prod. He wasn't... The car stopped and Virgil looked up to find they were at this gas station. "What are we doing here? It's not like we're gonna find any fucking gas." Daniel just sighed as he started to get out. Virgil sighed as he started to unbuckle only to freeze up as Daniel shot him this look.

"You stay in the car, Virgil." Of course. Virgil frowned but stayed sitting as the door slammed shut causing him to jump. He just stared at his gloved wrist, waiting. He hated all of this. It wasn't even er his choice. They did this to him. He wasn't some freak. He was human. He was his own man. He wasn't ... He wasn't a freak. They can't treat him like this. He had rights. Right?

Virgil sighed turning back to watch Daniel as he skimmed through everything. He didn't know why they were there. There had to be a reason though. Virgil watched as Daniel stopped and ran a hand through his hair.  Daniel just slowly turned back around with a very disappointed sigh. That was when Virgil spotted the movement. He saw a hand reach out from under a car. He wasted no time jumping up and pounding on the window, desperately trying to get the other's attention. Daniel frowned as he just gave him this look of confusion. That was until the hand grabbed his ankle pulling it out from underneath him. He dropped his gun as his head hit the pavement. Virgil watched in sickening horror as the zombie dragged itself out and overtop of Daniel. He was fighting to hold it back and trying to grab his gun, all while yelling at the younger. What was Virgil supposed to do? He couldn't do anything. He couldn't...

There was a loud bang and Virgil jumped turning around to see a zombie hitting the car window beside him. He freaked out. He jumped in the front seat and locked the doors. Virgil could hear his name being called but it was muffled by the panic-induced ringing about his ears. Virgil frowned as he turned the car on only to hear a scream. He turned to see the one zombie just moments away from taking Daniel's arm off and he could feel the tears falling from his eyes. There wasn't anything Virgil could do to help him. Daniel was dead anyway. He's-...

Virgil put the car in reverse and pressed the pedal hard, practically taking the other zombie's head off with the side mirror as he did. He didn't know how long he had been driving but soon found himself stuck in this road blocked completely with a shit ton of other cars, forcing him to just let the car die. He was running on fumes anyway.

Virgil watched in horror at the hoard that moved around the cars. He was completely frozen in fear. He jumped in the back pressing the levers that caused the back seat to collapse over him and just laid there listening to the sounds. He'd hear them bumping into the car and he'd jump. He clenched his hoodie tightly as the sounds of their moaning drowned out even his racing heart. All he could hear was them. Zombies... It's nothing but a z nation. He wouldn't have been surprised if there was no one left to save. Just him... and the zombies... and the...

"VIRGIL!" Virgil jumped up clenching his jacket tightly. He glanced over to see Roman giving him this look and he frowned. "Are you... Are you ok?" He looked around to see that he was in a car. Patton and Logan were in the front. Janus and Roman were with him in the back. He must have fallen asleep. He... he must have... "Virgil, breathe."

"I'm ok." Virgil choked out as he took a deep breath trying to calm his nerves. "It was just a nightmare. I'm ok." It was just... a nightmare. Just...

Just his past coming to haunt him.
