They put him in handcuffs.
He wasn't not even kidding. THEY PUT HIM IN HANDCUFFS! Virgil yelled in frustration as he attempted for the 12th time to break free. He wasn't really thinking straight. After all, they were walking down this road where anything could just pop out and he was handcuffed. Roman was walking beside him. Every so often he would glance over and Virgil just stared at the ground. They're were taking him... No... They were forcing him to go.
They didn't even know... Didn't understand the truth about it all. 'Subject Storm has information about the zombie vaccine'... it's complete bullshit. They just wanted his blood. Virgil was the only human that survived not one but two zombie bites. No wonder his hair turned purple. He didn't even know until Roman had said something. It wasn't like he could just look in a mirror to see.
Virgil stumbled a bit causing him to fall to his knees making everyone have to stop. He didn't bother to move. Maybe if he didn't... They'd get upset enough to put him out of his misery. Roman just nudged Virgil's leg with his foot as he glared down at him.
"Get up." Virgil shook his head making Roman narrow his eyes. He grabbed him by the arm and pulled Virgil to his feet with this scowl. "Now walk." Roman growled as he lightly pushed Virgil causing him to stumble yet again. Virgil refused, focusing his attention on the asphalt as he just stood there frozen. "Virgil..."
"Shut up." Virgil whispered out as his whole body shook. "This world is literally dying and you... You don't know a damn thing about me."
"I know you have information for a cure." Virgil looked back at the lieutenant to see him totally pissed off. It actually scared the smaller a little. "And you're refusing to give it up." Roman poked him hard in the chest making him wince. "So as far as I'm concerned..." He poked the smaller again even harder. "... you're no better than those dead-eyed sons of bitches." Another poke and Virgil winced again. Roman was going to leave a bruise. "You're killing hundreds and thousands of humans." Another poke and Virgil wanted to whine. This time it was so hard Virgil had nearly fallen over. "And if any of my team dies before we get you there, their blood is on your hands too."
"You don't understand..." Virgil froze up the second the sound of groans filtered into the air and Roman rolled his eyes pulling out his knife. Virgil was handcuffed, weaponless, and out in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of men who knew nothing. And now... Now to make it all worse, there just had to be zombies. Virgil freaked out instantly, unable to stave the panic for even one second, as he ran to the nearest cover leaving the other men behind. He could hear Roman freaking out telling him to get back there but he couldn't. He could go back. How in the hell was he supposed to. There were zombies... death... blood. So much pain... No. He couldn't go back even if he DID want to. He just couldn't. He couldn't go... He... He couldn't breathe.
Virgil fell to his knees behind this broken wall struggling to catch his breath. The sounds of fighting started to die out as the world was spinning around him. He was ok. He was going to be ok. Right? RIGHT?! He closed his eyes feeling the anxiety get to him more as he just tuned the world out. That was untill he felt something drip down on top of him.
Virgil slowly looked up to find a zombie bent over the broken wall, a knife in its head, and blood steadily falling. He jumped again only to land in someone's arms.
"What the hell was that?" In his panic Virgil forced himself to look back seeing how angry Roman looked. "We're supposed to be keeping you alive."
"I-I'm s-sorry." His heart was racing. He still wasn't able to catch his breath. The panic hadn't settled any. And with all this yelling, He was starting to get nauseous. It wasn't good. Even Roman could tell. "I just... I-I can't..."
"Virgil, breathe." Virgil felt as Roman pulled him in, barely noticing as something tugged at the handcuffs until they fell off. The second his wrists were free, Virgil latched onto the other. He could feel Roman tense up as he just stood there trying very hard to breathe.
"A-Are th-they dead?" Virgil's voice wasn't any louder than a whisper. "Th-the z-zombies..."
"Yeah." Virgil pulled away as Roman just stood there giving him this concerned glare, unable to do a thing as he just watched Virgil struggle to take a deep breath.
"Good. I fucking hate Zombies." Virgil smiled sadly trying to lighten the mood a bit but all the strength he had managed to muster left him almost immediately and he fell the dirt with a thud.
"Virgil?" The poor man just sat there unable to really move and he heard Roman sigh. "Logan, we're gonna need a car." Logan nodded and disappeared as Patton came over and knelt down in front of the smaller with his bag. Virgil tried to push him away but he just glared back at him making Virgil freeze up.
"Relax, Virgil. I'm only trying to help." Virgil looked away making Patton frown. "Do you not like me?"
"I don't like doctors." He just smiled and laughed a bit.
"No one likes doctors. That's why I love being one." Virgil shot him this look making him laugh even more. "Think about it. If I can get just one kid to smile during a doctor's visit then I did a good thing. They're always so scared. I like to make it... less scary." Virgil just sighed as he looked down at his hands.
"Well, thanks doc but... you can't help me with that." Patton looked like he was gonna say something when a car pulled up making Virgil frowned seeing Logan in the front seat. "Seriously? Why the fuck were we walking if you could just get a car whenever you wanted?"
"Does it matter?" Virgil glared over at Roman as the lieutenant frowned and shook his head. "Let's go, Virgil. You're in the middle."
