9. Logan's Friend

"Virgil, come on. You can't just stay in there." Roman frowned hearing no response on the other side of the door. "Virgil... The storms passed. We should get moving..."

"Fuck off, Roman." Roman just sighed as the door finally opened. He could see how Virgil's eyes were puffy from obvious tears as he was fixing his one glove. "I don't want to go."

"You don't have a choice, Virgil." The younger just scoffed and pushed past him hard. Roman's frown only grew as he watched him walk off to join the others. What is going on with him?

"So where exactly are we going now?" Virgil asked as Roman finally joined the group. "I'd rather not deal with any zombies."

"Fat chance, Stormcloud." Virgil just glared at Roman as he hugged his hoodie tighter around him. "Honestly, I don't know. Kai said to get you to this Lake Ariel in California."

"I have a friend who might be able to support us for a bit." Everyone seemed to stop and just stare over at Logan. He shrugged and held his metal hand up, staring at it with a neutral expression. "It isn't much but I'm sure he'll have something."

"Wait, you have friends?" Patton smacked Roman's arm lightly as he had started to laugh. Even Virgil laughed a bit. Janus just looked at the ground as Logan frowned.

"Yes. I have a few... had a few friends. As I stated, I'm sure he'll be able to assist us in some way."

"What makes you sure he isn't dead already?" Logan's eyes narrowed as Virgil's question hit them all. Roman frowned and Virgil seemed to sink further into his hoodie. "I mean... It's... It not like we can just..."

"We'll check it out." Roman lulled softly as he spotted a tiny smile on Logan's face, catching all their attention, while he shrugged. "I mean why not. We're low on supplies and could definitely use the help. And... at the very least Lo could... get some closure if need be."

"Whatever..." Virgil called as he started for the door.

"Where are you going now?" He just glared back at them as Roman frowned.

"We're going to where ever the cyborg's friend is. So let's go already." 

When Logan said he had a friend nearby, no one really expected it to actually be nearby. Even still it was an hour before he actually got anywhere and yes that was by car. The gas tank was completely emptied when they got there and Roman frowned looking out at this giant lab.

"Y-Your friend... isn't another d-doctor, are they?" Virgil whimpered as he tried to push himself away from the window making Logan laugh a bit.

"We're scientists Virgil." Roman couldn't help but notice how Virgil visibly winced making his frown only get worse.

"That... That isn't any better, to be honest." Logan just frowned as Virgil stared at the lab lost in whatever thoughts he had running through his mind. "Sorry, it's just... I have problems with doctors."

"Biomedical advancement was my forte, not his. So it's safe Virgil. No doctor but our own." Virgil just nodded as Logan led them all up to the door when the gate suddenly shut. Roman freaked... of course, he did. They were just shut in to this enclosed area in a word of zombies. Any movie will tell you traps lead to death. Not even movies... real life will teach you that. "Chris!" There was a bit of static but Logan just smiled.

"Logan? Is that really you?" Lo just waved his metal arm in the air and you could hear an excited laugh through the speakers. The giant metal doors started to open, making Roman cringe at the noise it made. He couldn't help it. His first and foremost priority is to the safety and wellbeing of his group. That meant he had a habit of being a bit paranoid... and loud sounds meant zombies incoming. Regardless, Logan walked right in as if this was just normal. Well, to him it probably was. "LOGAN!" A man ran down the steps full-throttle slamming the nerd into a hug before he could even decline. "You're here?!"

"Yes, Chris. I am here." Logan grumbled lightly as Chris pulled away, carefully looking around at everyone before stopping and staring at Virgil, who had put his hood up hiding his hair and eyes.

"You're in a group?" Chris narrowed his eyes looking around them all again before bursting out in a laugh. "Well, that's a first."

"He wasn't too keen on it at first." Chris just smiled as Roman placed a reassuring hand on Virgil's back while he spoke. He could see how the youngest was shaking. What is with him and Doctors? Where the hell did all that fear come from? "It was actually Janus that got him to open up a bit." Jan's eyes went wide as Roman laughed seeing how he desperately tried to look away.

"Uh, well... his inventions... they intrigued me." Chris just nodded almost just as amused as Roman clearly was.

"C-Can we just get over the introductions... p-please?" Chris once again shot Virgil this look before smiling brightly again and nodding.

"Of course young man." He gestured for everyone to follow him as he walked down this hallway. When they had made it to this living room type thing, Roman frowned a bit in thought. How long has this guy been here? "I'll put on some tea or..."

"Actually Chris, we came for some assistance." Logan called as everyone took a seat. All except Virgil, who was looking around with skepticism. "You see we've run quite low on supplies."

"Well, if that's all feel free to stock up." Roman faltered as his eyes narrowed in confusion, only for Chris to laugh. "This lab was fitted with a renewable water source and I started a garden so... I have plenty of things to offer."

"So where is everybody?" Chris tensed up as Virgil's voice filled the area. Roman glanced over to see him still looking around and frowned over the clear look of suspicion in the other's expression. "After all, this place is secure. I didn't see a single z coming in here and you just said it was self-sufficient." Chris never lost that smile and Virgil just narrowed his eyes that were still hidden under his hood. "Where is everyone?"

"They all left the moment the moment Z's had started showing up. I'm the only one that stayed behind."
