Chapter 30 - Convince

Sapnap arrived a few hours later. He had quickly taken the next plane to New York. George was still asleep when Dream heard a quiet knock on the front door. He pushed himself out of the soft sofa which had taken the shape of his body since he had been sitting there since George fell asleep.
The sun was beginning to set in the horizon as Dream opened the door. Sapnap stood with a bag on his shoulders and a warm smile on his face.

"Hey mate" he said pulling Sapnap into a hug and patting him the back.

"Didn't think I'd be back so soon" Sapnap replied with a small giggle. Dream stood back and let Sapnap in.

"Have you had anything to eat?" He asked as Sapnap put his bag back into the spare room.

"Yea I had something before I got on the plane, anyway how's George doing?" Sapnap replied and they both sat on the sofa. Dream sighed.

"He's asleep at the moment but he told me the full story, everything that happened that night. I kinda made him do it, I could tell it was driving him insane" Dream said, his eyes wandering to the window that he had fixed earlier that day.

"And the um, the cutting?" Sapnap asked cautiously. Dream felt his gaze burning into his neck, but he couldn't look Sapnap in the eyes without tearing up while telling him what happened.

"He had been doing it for a while before I found it, and I caught him forcing himself to stop this morning, I can see that he's having a really tough battle, and it hurts that I don't know how he feels." Dream said, now he could feel his eyes water and a small stab in his heart.

"Shit" Sapnap said, he sounded speechless. Dream kept his gaze on the window. "So is he alright now?" Dream wanted to say yes. But he couldn't be sure that George was better. He just had to hope that George had listened to what he had tried to say.

"It's getting better, we talked about it" Dream said, thinking carefully about his words.

"That's good to hear" Sapnap said. They both fell silent. Dream quickly blinked away a tear and took a deep breath before turned to Sapnap.

"Should we go tomorrow then? I'm sure George will be fine on his own. I've locked up everything sharp." Dream said nervously. Sapnap smiled.

"Don't worry Dream, you're doing everything right, I'll be right here for you both... even if George doesn't accept that." Said Sapnap kindly. Dream nodded.

"I think he will." He said, before opening his camera roll. A small picture of a ring was the latest saved photo other than a fan fic of him and George that he enjoyed looking at.

"Here's the one I want to buy" Dream said and handed Sapnap his phone. Sapnap looked down at the screen.

"Holy shit Dream that's expensive!" He exclaimed as Dream watched him zoom in on the large number.

"It's worth it" Dream said and smiled. It was worth it. He wanted to keep George by his side, to prove that George was enough, better than anything he could ever have.

"Tomorrow then?" Sapnap asked handing Dream his phone. Dream felt butterflies.

"Yup" he said smiling. "Can we go check on him, he'll be happy to see you Sapnap" Dream said standing up. Sapnap followed Dream down the hall and they stopped outside his door.

"Take it easy on him, and if he says anything harsh, just remember that he's probably not in a good head space right now, he'll get over it" Dream whispered. Sapnap nodded back and Dream quietly pushed the door open.
George was still asleep, laying peacefully on his stomach, his face turned towards them. Dream blushed.

"I feel mean if I wake him" Dream giggled. "He looks so cute". Sapnap laughed and flicked his hair out of his face.

"Wake him now or he won't sleep tonight" Sapnap said, gently pushing Dream towards the bed. Dream sighed reluctantly and walked towards George. He felt his heart go warm before he gently shook his shoulders.

"Ugh" George moaned and slowly opened his eyes.

"Dream?" He said when he saw Dreams face. Dream smiled, butterflies swarmed his stomach. He desperately wanted to kiss George but he couldn't do it, not in front of Sapnap.

"How was your sleep?" He asked, his hand still placed gently on George's shoulder.

"Good, until you woke me up" George said giggling, he looked over Dreams shoulder. "Who's behind you?" He asked and sat up, he was still fully clothed.

"Sapnap just arrived" Dream said and moved out of the way so Sapnap could come over. George's eyes widened.

"Hi George" Sapnap said with a worried smile.

"Why are you back?" George asked quickly, his eyes narrowed.

"I came back for a bit because... um.... Dream told me a few things and I think it would be better if I gave you both some emotional support at the moment. I really want to help George. I won't let either of you suffer alone. You're the only friends I have" he said and held his breath on the last few words. Dream smiled back at Sapnap.

"Is that okay George?" Dream asked, his eyes pleading as he looked at George beautiful brown ones. They shone in the evening light.

"Thanks Sapnap, I appreciate it" George said quietly. Dream could tell George meant it, even if he was still mad he could tell that George wanted Sapnap here. Dream sat down next to George and ruffled his hair, George blushed.

"We are going to go out to get some things tomorrow" Dream said nervously, trying to find an excuse to leave George here. "Is it alright if you are alone for a bit?" He asked, looking at George's confused face.

"I mean, sure" George said, then looked down at his covered wrist. "But can you trust me?" George said quietly, Dream felt George's body begin to shake from beside him. He wrapped his arm around George's small shoulders and touched George's cheek with his other hand, tilting George's face back towards him, their eyes met.

"I can I trust you, I always will" Dream said seriously. George made a small smile.

"I love you Dream" he whispered, Dream blushed and remembered Sapnap was awkwardly standing next to them.

"Hey I'll ... ah .. go wait in the living room, I'll give you a moment" he said and walked out, shutting the door behind him. Dream turned back to George's face and pressed his lips onto George's. The sweet taste of George flowing down his throat made his heart beat faster. He pulled away.

"You don't know how long I was wanting to do that" George giggled and looked away blushing. Dream smiled and looked at George seriously again.

"We'll only be gone for a bit, call me if you need anything, I'll be back as soon as I can" Dream assured. George looked down again and nodded.

"I'll be alright" he said and he wrapped his arms around Dreams chest, his heart beating fast.
