Chapter 12 - Sunset

After stopping at a nearby supermarket and watching tv while the hours passed, night was gradually coming and the Picnic that Dream had planned earlier was ready. Food was packed and Dream had shown them pictures of the beach he wanted to go to. It was quite a nice beach. About five minutes from his house.

George was extremely excited and nervous about it. He knew this was the perfect place to do something. Anything. But Sapnap could tell George was too excited. He pulled George out of earshot from the other two.

"George, I know you're excited but this is just a fun trip okay? No flirting for now" he whispered. George stared at Sapnap. He saw the seriousness on his face.

"But what if I can't help it?" he whispered back. "You know how I feel. What if something just happens?"

"That's fine. As long as you don't purposely try and say something" Sapnap said glancing around to make sure Dream couldn't hear them. George nodded.

"We're here to have fun. Just tonight at least. Can I trust you?" he asked George, looking around Georges face for a sign of recognition. George just nodded.

"I promise I won't say anything like that" George said. He felt slightly disappointed and the pain in his chest came back. Sapnap patted his back and smiled at him before walking off to join back in on the conversation between Techno and Dream. George just stood there repeating Sapnaps words in his head. He walked back into the kitchen to finish packing the food for the picnic. The bag was filled with bread, ham, cheese and a bunch of snacks they had picked out from the supermarket.
"The foods ready. Should we go?" George shouted from the kitchen. Dream turned to look at George and smiled.
"I'm ready, let's go" he said.

Sapnap offered to drive this time as he saw the drained look on George's eyes. George was grateful.
Techno managed to shotgun front once again meaning hime and Dream would be together at in the back. He felt overwhelmed again as he sat down next to Dream. It was still so unreal that they were almost touching, from being a whole country apart a few weeks ago.

Dream directed Sapnap to the beach he had in mind and George sat silently, letting his thoughts wander around. The Dream was still fresh in his mind even though he hadn't had it in a while. George turned to look at Dream who was sitting forward, his hands rested on the back of the front seats. He casually instructed Sapnap where to go. He stared at Dream feeling his heart melt. How was somebody so perfect in the ways that Dream was. He stared for a moment to long. Dream sat back in his seat and glimpsed at George, just in time to catch him staring. George quickly turned away and looked at the window. He could feel Dreams eyes on the back of his neck as his face slowly turned pink.

"Georgeeee" Dream whispered flirtatiously and put his hand on George's shoulder. George blushed even more and his heart raced but he turned to look at Dream anyway. He saw Dream green eyes staring him up and down and his little smirk that made him melt even more.

"You're blushing" Dream silently giggled.
"I can't help it" George whispered back as he looked down and smiled to himself. He looked back up to see Dream smiling and shaking his head.
"You're so cute" Dream giggled and started blushing too. George smirked and looked back out the window. Resisting the urge to kiss Dream. Desperately wanting to pull him close and breath in his warmth, a single touch could melt him completely.

They arrived at the beach a few minutes later. Sapnap and Techno ran to the waters edge and began splashing each other while Dream and George unpacked the food. The sun was low in the horizon and cast a golden tone everywhere. George watched as Dream looked up and was caught in the golden light, illuminating his bright green eyes and making his skin and lips even more perfect than George thought possible. Fuck I just wanna kiss him so bad. He thought as he smoothed out the picnic blanket.

Dream helped George set up the food just before Techno and Sapnap came running back. Their shorts splashed with water. Dream rolled his eyes but smiled as they sat down.
"Thanks George for putting the food together" said Dream. Everyone nodded.
"Alright I'm hungry can we start?" Said Sapnap awkwardly. After getting George's nod of approval the four of them began to eat and chat about the week ahead of them.

George found himself zoning out of the conversation to the calm sound of waves splashing. It made him feel at peace and reminded him of the place he felt most safe. Held tight to Dream. He still clearly remembered when he had first got here this morning. Seeing Dream for the first time. Hugging him. But it was more than a hug. George felt it when they embraced. The connection between them that made George melt and who knows what Dream had felt.

"Isn't that right George?" George snapped back to reality. Everyone was staring at him.
"George?" Asked Sapnap.
"Ugh sorry I zoned out" shrugged George. "What were you saying?"

"Oh my gosh George that's like the third time. What's on your mind lately?" Sapnap replied. George thought about it. He definitely couldn't say it here.

"Um nothing" he uttered.

"I bet he's thinking about me" Dream joked making the other two laugh. George blushed. How could Dream have guessed that easily.

"Look he's blushing" said Techno pointing at him. George quickly looked away his heart beating faster.

"Shut up" he said.

They had finished their food the sun had almost completely set. It was a full moon and the light reflected across the water, illuminating the beach. Sapnap and Techno had run off into the moonlight again and left George and Dream sitting in the dark. It was peaceful. The waves had calmed down and George was left to his thoughts. But he couldn't keep his eyes off Dream. He watched as Dream stared at the moon. He was leaned back on his arms and a soft window blew his blonde hair to the side. Dream was beautiful.
George smiled as he watched Dream silently sitting next to him. Dream quickly turned and caught George's eye who was unable to look away. He smiled at Dream and Dream smiled back. The only thing that gave George butterflies was Dream. Whenever he smiled or just looked at him his body would burst inside and flutter around madly causing him to fall deeper into the pit of love. It was painful but felt so close to earning Dreams love back.

"What are you looking at" Dream whispered, his eyes glowing in the moon light. George took a deep breath.

"I think you already know" he smiled.

"Maybe" he he smirked, still holding eye contact and moving an inch closer to George, "but I wanna hear it from you" he whispered. It felt like he was staring right through George. Melting his heart as he did. George could feel his hands shake. He was close enough to Dream to smell his sweetness again. The scent he had fallen asleep to earlier that day.

"I was staring at you Dream" he said nervously, finally breaking eye contact and staring at his sweaty palms. When he looked back Dream was still looking at him. Moving his eyes up and down George's body as though he was inspecting every inch. He smiled.

"I know you are" he giggled silently. Now they were so close their noses almost touched. George felt Dreams breath on his cheeks. The lips he wanted to kiss so desperately were right there. And they looked more kissable than ever. George looked down at Dreams lips then back up into his eyes. Trying to give Dream a sign. George couldn't tell if Dream was blushing or not but he could feel his own face growing hot. Was this it, was this the moment. The two faces only millimetres away from each other. Both wanting the same thing but unable to tell each other.
Suddenly Dream pulled back and looked away. Now George, even in the darkness could see how much Dream was blushing. But George felt the opposite. His stomach had dropped and his butterflies flew away. Did he overwhelm Dream? Was something wrong? Shit. He knew he had moved to fast.

"I'm sorry" Dream whispered. "It's getting late I think we should go" he added before quietly getting up and walking off towards Sapnap and Technos silhouettes in the distance. George was left alone again. Alone and in pain.
