CHAPTER 43
Pending Questions and Ceaseless Misery

"Can I have your number?" The guy asked me as I buttoned up my shirt.

"No," I replied.

"Why not? Didn't you have fun?" He asked, pulling up his pants.

"No," I replied, rolling my eyes.

"But-" I interrupted him by crashing my lips against his before pulling away and giving him a sickeningly sweet smile.

"Don't ever talk to me again, Landon" I said.

"It's Logan," He corrected.

"I said never to talk to me again." I reminded before hopping off the teacher's table and walking out of the class.

I walked out to the almost empty hallway and I realized that most students must've headed to the cafeteria for lunch. I was about to go there too until I spotted two familiar faces next to Terra's locker.

I could hear the sounds of their laughs getting louder as I approached closer to them.

"Right, so I've never done this before." Blake chuckled nervously and my ear perked up in curiosity.

He slowly grabbed her hands in his and placed a kiss on them before looking into her eyes with a smile.

"Terra, would you like to be my girlfriend?" He asked and my heart dropped to my stomach just as a bright smile appeared on Terra's face.

All the pain that I tried to keep on the low came rushing back and I could feel the tears fighting it's way out, but I held it back.

She was about to say something before her eyes met my cold glare and her smile immediately dropped.

Blake turned around, following her gaze to look at me, making his mouth slightly part open.

"W-We'll talk later." Terra said quickly and he turned to look at her as she walked past him to the cafeteria.

"Sorry for ruining the moment." I said and he looked back at me.

"It's alright. You didn't do anything." He said, tiredly leaning against the lockers and closing his eyes.

"I'm just going to leave." I said before pursing my lips in a thin line.

"Wait," He said before opening his eyes and pushing himself away from the locker to walk towards me.

"I haven't properly talked to you in days." He said.

"Now isn't a great time, is it?" I asked.

"Well, you don't give me much of your time anymore. So, I guess I'll have to adjust with the bad ones." He said.

"You won't be having much time once you get a girlfriend." I said, letting out a humorless laugh.

"She walked away." He said with a sad sigh.

"I'm sure she was going to say yes, but I guess I ruined it for you... again." I said, lowering my gaze to the floor.

"Lynne, it's not your fault, okay?" He asked before cupping my face in his hands and placing a kiss on each of my cheeks before kissing my forehead.

"I miss you." He whispered.

"You clearly haven't been missing me much." I scoffed.

"Lynne, you're my best friend. She's not replacing you." He said.

"No, she's just taking a place above mine." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Lynne, you've been above everyone else since we were ten, Lynne. It's not going to be that easy to top you." He said, giving me a smile before slowly caressing my face.
