"Addelyn!" I heard an excited voice call on my way to meeting Cole.

I turned around and met with Cole's mother who walked towards me with a huge grin.

"Hi, Mrs. Hamilton!" I greeted with a fake smile etched on my face.

"Oh my god! Look at you. You're gorgeous, dear!" She gushed, "Cole is a very lucky boy!"

"Cole?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"He said that you were his date. Aren't you?" She asked and I gave her a confused look.

"Of course, he was lying." She said, shaking her in disappointment, "He took half a minute to stutter your name."

"Oh no, he wasn't lying. I am his date." I said, still being confused on what was happening, "He can get a little nervous when it comes to girls."

"Right, my bad." She laughed, "I was so worried that he was with the help's daughter again. That boy keeps sneaking around with her. She's such a bad influence! I swear I wouldn't have kept her around if I didn't feel bad for her and her mother. They have no place to go."

"Don't worry. I'll keep him on track tonight." I said and she smiled.

"Oh, there he comes now." She said, looking at someone behind me and my head snapped to Cole who walked towards us hastily.

"Mom, you're talking to Addy. Addy, you're talking to my mom." He said before letting out a nervous chuckle.

"Yes, Cole. We are aware of that." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Right! Umm...... let's dance!" He said, grabbing my hand and pulling me away from his mom.

Once we reached the center of the hall, he looked around the place awkwardly as if he just saw a real-life unicorn.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"I don't know how to dance." He said.

"You were the one who suggested dancing." I shrugged.

"I was just trying to get you away from my mom." He said and I let an exasperated sigh before grabbing his arms and wrapping them around my waist. I circled my hands around his neck and crashed my body against his, making him take a step back from me.

"Would you relax?" I asked and he awkwardly nodded his head before stepping a little closer to me.

"How do we do this?" He asked and I rolled my eyes.

"Just go with the flow, Cole. We're not break dancing." I rolled my eyes.

"I don't know how to go with the flow!" He exclaimed and I sighed.

"Just have some confidence. I'm always confident in what I do and thus I'm the best at what I do." I said smugly.

"Aren't you very modest?" He said.
