Chapter 58
“What are we going to do today?” she asked me when she had gotten dressed.
“I want to show you around!”
“Okay!” she said with a smile.
I walked over to her and knelt in front of her.
“Hey, it’s daddy… I can’t wait for you to come out so I can hug you!” I kissed her belly and I then felt her hands stroking my hair.
“I want him out of me, as well! Believe me!” she sighed and walked into the bathroom again.
“This is where I went to high school!”
I pulled over and turned off the engine.
“Oh, it’s so cool!”
“I hated it!”
She giggled. “Show me more!”
I took the highway to the next place; where I used to go when I needed some time alone when I was a kid. It was under the highway bridge by the water.
We got out of the car and I started walking to the bushes.
“If it’s still here…” A branch whipped my face. “Ouch! Yes! It’s here! Come look!”
“I don’t want to go in there, Bill” I heard her say behind me.
“It’s not far… Come on, you said that you wanted to see more”
Soon she was next to me. She stared at the old wooden door.
“It’s a small room in here”
I opened the door and crouched to go inside. Alicia lit the flashlight on her phone.
“Oh, it looks the same!”
“You spend your time here? All alone?”
“Yeah”
“Do Tom know about this place?”
“Nope”
She handed over her phone and walked out.
This small room of thirty inches, with no lights or windows had been my escape for years when I was smaller. I still remember when I found it. It was the very same day my parents had told me that they were getting a divorce. I used to come here with a candle, pen and paper, and I would write until the light was burned out.
I actually come up with the song “Gegen Meinem Willen” right where I stood, and then I brought home the idea home to my brother who liked it.
“Bill!” I heard Alicia shout and she woke me up from my dreams. I walked out of there and she stood next to the car.
“What is it?”
“I have to pee”
“What a lovely surprise…” I said sarcastic.
“Shut up! Unlock the door”
I did as she told me and then we took off.
“Where are you going to pee?”
“Anywhere! It’s kind of an emergency! I will pee in the car if we don’t find anything soon”
“There’s a gas station over there”
“No! I will not pee at a gas station!” she grunted.
“Where will you pee then?” I was feeling that my patience was running out.
“Just go to a supermarket or something…”
“As you wish, your majesty!” I said.
The sarcasm was on top, but I know, by judging of Alicia’s face that she wasn’t.
