Chapter 16
l sat down in the harbor with Milow beside me. I smiled at him when he tried to tear himself free from the leash. He’s eyes were fixated on the seagulls that were flying around the boat tanks other side the harbor.
“You know I can’t let you go over there” I said as he looked at me with his puppy eyes.
Milow was the newest member in the crowd. He was only four months old.
I looked up all of a sudden and saw a particular familiar face.
“Alicia” I said before I got to thinking twice about if I should call on her or not, but when she didn’t hear me – she had her headphones in her ear, so I figured she wouldn’t – I walked over to her. She smiled when she saw me.
Oh, that beautiful smile.
“Bill” Alicia took out her headphones and smiled even bigger at me. I couldn’t help but smile back. “Oh, who’s this little buddy?” She bent down and reached out her hand towards Milow so he could smell her.
He went behind my legs and I laughed.
“Oh, he’s shy”
“He is so cute!”
“Yes, he’s the apple of my eye”
“I see that…” She picked up her phone. “Are you here all alone?” she asked and put it away again.
I only nodded my head.
“You want to get some breakfast?”
“It’s like two in the afternoon” I laughed.
“I just woke up. I love sleeping” She smiled.
We began to walk over to the food stands. I ordered vegetarian and sat down on a bench along the quayside and waited for Alicia to join me.
“Oh, are you vegetarian?” she asked when she sat down next to me.
“Yes”
“Cool! I think it’s awesome! If I didn’t love meat so much as I do, I would also become one”
I laughed and we started eating under silence.
“This was fun… I don’t really know many people here” She said one hour later when we began to move.
“I think it was too! Oh… Well, if you want you can have my number, and maybe we can meet again”
“Yeah, sure”
I wrote it down for her in her cell and gave it back.
“You are sure that I’m not a psycho who will give away your phone number to some fan?” she said with a smile.
“I think I just have to trust you on this one…”
She smiled and looked into my eyes. Hers were almost as dark as mine, or maybe even darker.
“Good bye, hope you will keep in touch” I said and began to walk away from her.
Once again I’m letting her slip through my hands, I thought to myself.
When I got home I was jumped on by my “brothers”
“Where have you been for so long? We were supposed to meet at the studio three hours ago?”
“I was… in the harbor”
“Swimming?...”
“No, you idiot…” I interrupted him, but he interrupted me before I could go any further.
“You know, little brother, that’s not the best place to go swimming, not even for Milow, especially, since when we have our own pool!”
“Oh, you big idiot! Will you just shut up!?”
Tom started laughing, and after I had hit him over the head, I did too.
“I’m never late to our studio times, so what if I am for once?”
“Let’s see what David thinks about that”
