Chapter 44


The concert had been awesome. It had been good with a week vacation, but we couldn’t be more than happy to be playing again. The fans were as alert as usual. 
I loved it! I knew the rest of the band did too.

It was almost 11pm and I couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel and wait to see Alicia. 

“Bill, I know the concert was way more than good, I mean, I was there…!” Tom grinned at me. “But what’s with you? Has something happened between you and Alicia, because you’ve been happy since before the show? More than usual!”

“Well…” I couldn’t help but smiling. “If you must know… we kissed” 

“NO WAY!?” my brother said with sarcasm in his voice. “How was it? The first time you ever kissed someone, right?”

“Oh, shut up!” I smacked him over the head.

The drive between the arena and hotel took almost ten minutes. 

“Why are there police cars and ambulances outside the entrance? I heard Georg say and I took out my headphones.  I looked at the red and blue lights from the cars with fear in my eyes and I immediately knew something was wrong with Alicia. I could feel it in me. 

We got out from the car and walked up to the entrance and were stopped by a policeman to ask what has happened. 

“Assault” 

“What? Who?”

The ambulance drove away with the sirens and I looked back at the officer. “Who?”

“A man…”

I felt relief fill me, but then the police man continued. 

“He had attacked a pregnant woman”
Now I felt my heart stopped. How many pregnant women were in that hotel? I ran into the lobby and to the elevator. Tom was soon behind me. 

“Bill! Take it easy! It doesn’t need to be her!”
“Of course it is, Tom! How many pregnant women do you see around here? And how many of those are threatened by her ex-husband?!” I hissed at my brother. 

We got off at the sixth floor and hurried to my room. 

“Alicia?” I asked when I saw that the door was opened. We met a couple of officers and she sat on the bed in a white robe and a blanker around her. One of the ambulance crew was about to put patches on her cheek when she saw me. She pushed away the person who helped her and ran into my arms. 

“What has happened? Are you okay?”

She started crying hysterically. She soon couldn’t breathe and I stroked my hand on her back.  She was clearly not okay. 

“Schh… Calm down, baby!” I whispered into her ear. “What happened?” 

“He… found… me…” she said between her deep breaths. 

“Zack?” My eyes got twice as big and she nodded her head before she cried again. “How?” 

She shrugged.  

“Excuse me” one of the medics said. “We need to take her to the hospital!” 

Alicia didn’t say anything against it, even though I knew she hated hospitals, but I bet she was hurting. The bruise on her cheek didn’t look good. 

“We take her in the ambulance…”

“I’m going with you!”

“Bill! I have to talk to you!” My brother pulled me aside and thee paramedics took Alicia out. I promised her to be there as soon as possible. When they had left the room I looked impatiently at my brother. 

“What is it, Tom? I have to go to her!”

“You know it was Zack, right?”

“Yes, she told me”

“Did she tell you all what happened?”

I shook my head. 

“Well, she told the police but then it came as a shock for her, therefor she was dead silent and said nothing until you showed up! The policeman who I talked to said that she had taken a bath, and when she got out of there he was here. He tried to rape her, Bill… But she hit him with the phone in the head so he passed out…”

I had tears in my eyes and I looked down at the phone that she used to hit him. 

“How-how… Why did they tell you?”

“I said it was my sister in law!”

I couldn’t help but smile. What would I do without Tom?

“I can’t believe this…” I felt a tear ran down at my cheek and I shook my head. “We need to get to the hospital”


We reached the hospital fifteen minutes later and I asked for Alicia’s room. 

“Hey! How are you?” she had a typical hospital gown on and she was lying in bed. 

“I think I will lose the baby!” 

“What? Why are you thinking that?” I took a chair and sat down next to the bed. 

“Because! Look what it has been through? Assault and worry! It can’t make it!”

“Don’t say like that! I’m sure it will make it! It has the strongest mom I ever met, if you don’t count my own!”

“Bill, I have felt some pain back and forth during pregnancy … At first I thought that it wasn’t that big a deal, but now I do. The doctor’s will do some test on me to see if everything’s fine!”

“Why haven’t you told me anything about this?”

“I didn’t thought I was going to be with you for this long, and over the past week, it has not felt so painful”

I looked at her for a moment. 

“Does it hurt now?”

“Not as much as it did earlier”

That was then the doctor came in. He introduced himself as Wesley Richards and he told us what he was going to do. They needed a blood sample and then they were going to do an ultrasound. 
They rolled her out and Tom got in to the room. 

“Where are they taking her?”

“To do some samples…”

He nodded his head and there was an awkward silence between us. We always had something to talk about, but now I was too worried about Alicia to think about something else. What if she actually loses the baby? It sure had been through a lot, but Alicia had told me that he never hit the baby. Zack never hit anywhere near her stomach, like he didn’t want to hurt the baby. He maybe he had one percent goodness in him. 
I knew that Tom knew what I was thinking, because he laid a hand on my shoulder. 

“Don’t think about it!” he said and in the next second Alicia came in again. 

“She has to stay here over the night, but I’m sure that everything is good!” Dr. Richards said and I thanked him before I sat down on the chair again. 

“How are you feeling?”

“You know I hate hospitals…” she only said, ignoring my question. 

“Yeah, I know” I put my hand over hers. 

“You could do something to get me out of here!”

“Like what?”

“I don’t know! But you should! Aren’t you Bill Kaulitz, the man who can do everything?” she said irritated. 

I, sure didn’t like her tone, but I knew she was in pain. She was worried about the baby, and she just had met up with her husband who had hit her – again. 

“I better get going… I’m sure the G’s want to know how everything is” Tom said and interrupted my thoughts. 

“Yeah… I’ll stay here over the night”

“I call you tomorrow!”

And with that my brother left us.
