After the awful dinner, East Brick put on, Gabe did the homework he had been assigned, hung put for a bit in the community room with Landon, watched shit TV and then headed back up to his room to go to bed. Landon was going out to some party so Gabe had the opportunity to go to sleep early. Although he wanted to go to sleep, his mind didn't and he couldn't get the church burning. Something with it just didn't sit right with him and that's why he had been feeling off all day. He couldn't put his finger on what it was, it just made him feel ill. Gabe got out of the bed and looked out the small window where he could see where the crime had taken place. He stayed up until Landon got back just thinking. It wasn't right.
The next morning Marlon went on his morning jog around the block, but went a bit further and went back to the crime scene. He needed to think and he did his best thinking when he was out jogging. The detour to the church was an extra five miles, but if it meant he could solve the crime, it would be worth it. Once he reached the church, he sat opposite the burnt-out remains and started thinking. "Since it was done at night, I'm thinking young-adults", he said, thinking aloud, "Unoccupied building, an easy target. Rebellion against the system because it's a church? Maybe". Marlon let those thoughts simmer as he started jogging back and wrote everything he had just brainstormed down. This case wasn't all that met the eye.
When Gabe reached the school the ext morning, he was greeted by James and Faith. "Hey guys", Gabe said as James stubbed his cigarette out. "Hey dude", James said, "Feeling okay?". Gabe nodded, "Yeah, I guess I was just a bit freaked out by the crime". Faith and James nodded. "I'm used to murdering and all that", James said, "But this is just so different". Gabe nodded in agreement. Two minutes later, Pamela and Eugene ventured out to greet their friends. "The cops must be scared shitless", Eugene said, "I saw about seven cop cars on my way to school". "Damn", Faith said, "They must be taking it as a threat". "The threat is real alright", Gabe said, "My roommate went to a party last night and the party ended with kids throwing rocks and shit at the police that were trying to shut it down". "So much for fast times at Ridgemont High", Pamela said, "More like scary times".
