Gabe put his finest checkered shirt on which was red and black and sprayed a tiny bit of cologne on his neck, just in case. He brushed his teeth and put on his old skool Vans shoes on which were black and white. Gabe checked the time; it was 6:40. He recalled Landon saying they would leave for the party at 7. The door to their room swung open and it was Landon with a half-smoked cigarette in his mouth. "Someone has dressed to impress", Landon said, smiling and ruffling Gabe's freshly combed hair. "I would advise you to change", Landon said, "These parties can get very, very messy". Gabe sighed and rolled his eyes. "We're leaving in 10 minutes", Landon said, "Change or you are not coming". Gabe went back to his small wardrobe and picked out an old, tattered shirt, but he kept his pants on as they were old anyway. "Alright, I'm ready", Gabe said, "Let's go". Landon got up from his bed and got to his feet. The two headed off to the party. Gabe hoped to have the time of his life.
Marlon headed home early from work saying he was feeling ill. He drove home with tears in his eyes. He hoped Faith was still home when got there. As Marlon drove into his driveway and parked the car. He saw his wife car was not there. He dug his keys out of his pocket and let himself into the house. As he was passing the fridge Marlon opened it and grabbed a beer. It had been an emotionally draining day. A few minutes later as Marlon sat down his wife came home. "Hey", Theresa called out, "I didn't expect you to be home". "I had some bad news at work", Marlon explained, "But let's not dwell on that. Where's Faith?". Theresa sat beside her husband, "She's at a party, I just dropped her off". That news felt like a punch in the heart to Marlon. Just as Marlon was about to tell Theresa what he had discovered, his phone started ringing. He checked the caller ID and saw it was Earl. "What's up?", Marlon asked, knowing it wouldn't be good. "There's a party tonight that I think is linked to that group", Earl said, "If you're feeling up to it we can bust it and get our people". Marlon had no choice. "I'll see you in half an hour", Marlon said, hanging up the phone. "I have to go", Marlon said, getting up from the sofa, "It will all make sense later". Theresa was confused as her husband left yet again. She had a lonely evening ahead of her.
