As Gabe took his seat for French as the bell rang for students to get moving. He took his heavy French books out of his bag. Eugene sat beside Gabe. "How long have Faith and Jerome been going out?", Gabe asked as the rest of the class poured in slowly. "Since last night", Eugene answered, pushing his brown hair out of his brown eyes, "Don't worry, I just forgot to tell you". Gabe nodded, "Nice one". Eugene could sense something was bothering Gabe, but just as he was about to enquire, the teacher Mr Jefferson walked in. He slammed his brown briefcase down that sounded like it was full of bricks on the desk. Mr Jefferson was the only teacher in the whole school that had never been threatened by a student. This was because the one time someone tried to fight him, he put the person in the hospital for a month. "Take out your textbooks and turn to page fifty", Mr Jefferson ordered, looking at the book through his glasses. Gabe and Eugene sighed, they hoped this class would go quickly.
Marlon and Earl had visited four houses; Two weren't home and the other two couldn't tell hem anything new. "What did I tell you?", Marlon said, smirking. Earl spat on the floor in frustration, "We've only visited four houses so please keep your gloating to a minimum". Marlon buried his smug and walked up to the next houses front door; A nice two-storey house. He gave the door two authoritative knocks and waited. "Let me do the talking", Earl said, stepping in front of Marlon. An old lady answered the door with a small dog under her left arm. "Sorry to bother you, ma'am", Earl said, "I am detective Earl Walsh and this is my partner, Marlon Roco". The woman gave a small smile. "We were wondering if you knew anything about the burning of Earl Cahill church". The woman's demeanour changed immediately, "Not the church", she said. Earl solemnly nodded, "Unfortunately it was". "Come in", the woman said, making her door wider for the two detectives to come in. Earl saw a lot of family photos right off the bat. "My name is Eileen Denby", the old woman aid, walking to her living room. "So, Mrs Denby", Marlon said, "How long had you been going to the church?". "Every Sunday and Christmas", Eileen answered, "It was a great community". Earl nodded, "Is there anyone who showed a disliking to the church?", he asked, "Anyone who acted suspiciously there?". Eileen thought, "No one stood out to me", she said, "All just normal people". Earl nodded, at least they had found someone who would talk.
