Anyone who wasn't already in the entrance room that Parker and I were in, had now bundled together into the room. The 'rich people' crowd loved drama, they wouldn't want to miss something like this. The two biggest powers and most well-known people in the city that were already enemies had something to argue over. After shouting at me from across the room, he stormed over to face me.

"I'm sure you wouldn't want to make a scene, father." I said calmly just to trigger him a little more. Everyone was staring at us, jaws dropped and there was no way my father would risk damaging him reputation.

"Oh, you have no idea how much I want to make a scene." He spat in a low tone. "You are so god damn lucky I can't right now." I smirked and I could see his blood boil.

"It's been a while, Atkinson." Parker sneered sternly. For someone so kind and calm, it was easy to forget just how much Parker hated my father. Some of it seemed to be triggered by what he had done to me, but there was certainly a past there.

To some extent, I was pretty sceptical about this. Parker was a reasonable person, and he didn't make enemies easily. So why would he hate my father so deeply just over business? Something didn't seem right, but I knew I could trust Parker. If he knew something I didn't, especially involving my father, he would definitely tell me. He wasn't the sort to keep secrets.

"Not long enough." My father scoffed. "What the f*ck are you doing with my daughter? If you are trying to hurt my daughter, I swear I-" Parker quickly cut him off with hushed laughter.

"Oh, I see. This is the part where you act like everything is alright. You are about to act like you love Riley, and your relationship with your daughter is perfect. Because you have been doing that for years haven't you?" His fake 'smiley and light tone' suddenly harshened.

"You have been forcing her to keep all the pain she's been through to herself for your own selfish needs. You've mentally abused her, never supported her, locked her away, given her no freedom, forced her into relationships, chosen work over your daughter's life and I'm sure many other things. Yes, she told me, so are you going to play pretend or admit to it, I wonder." My heart thumped as my father turned to me.

"You b*tch." He scowled harshly in my face. In an instant, he grabbed my arm aggressively and dragged me out of the room.

Parker

I couldn't believe the sheer nerve of that man. I had tried to follow them as soon as he dragged her away, but among the crowd I lost track of where they had gotten to. They were so many people and I couldn't spot where exactly her father had lead her. I desperately tried to shove my way past people. I didn't trust that man at all around her, especially in his rage.

Who knows what he could say or... what if he hurt her? I couldn't let that happen.

Out of nowhere, a girl sprung in front of me. I tried to barge my way past, but she persistently moved in front of my path and as much as I wanted to shove her over to get to Riley, I couldn't do that. I stood still and sighed in defeat.

As I looked at her better, I noticed she was the same person who had shouted Riley's name. That meant she knew Riley. That couldn't be a good sign. None of the people from her past sounded even half decent.

"Hey, I'm Leah!" She introduced herself excitedly. I groaned; I could already tell she wasn't going to be the kind of person I wanted to talk to.

"I need to find Riley, can you please move out the way? Great, thanks." I muttered sarcastically. Her expression dropped and she showed an ugly glower.

"Really, Parker? Someone like you could do a million times better than her. That b*tch is a hopeless case and she has been for years. She's pretty I guess, but don't let that fool you. Her baggage is unmanageable and she's not worth the fuss. She was with a dude for two entire years and she didn't sleep with him once! What a tease."

I thought if I ever heard anything like that about her, I would be angry, but for a moment I wasn't angry at all. My sadness and sympathy flooded me like an ocean, and they was no room for anger. I remembered the name Leah as the 'best friend' Riley had told me about. I heard some of the awful things Leah had said about her but hearing this for myself physically hurt me. How could people be so horrible to such an amazing person? It seemed disgusting and unreasonable.

I snapped back into the moment, and my anger began to heat up.

"Get the hell out of my way right now. I don't know you and your family, but I know you're here meaning you have to be getting good money from somewhere. I swear to god, if you don't move, I will shut whatever businesses you have going for you, and don't doubt for one second that I might would do that or that I don't have the power to do that because believe me, I will and I do." She gasped and he expression remained shocked, which I found slightly satisfying. She slowly edged away from me and I continued to search around.

I came to a smaller hallway and caught a glimpse of bright red which I recognised to be Riley's dress. I quickly sprinted over to her and hoped that she was okay. When I got to her, my heart sank in my chest. She was already on the verge of tears, she was too tough to let them out, but I could tell.

Her eyes were red and puffy, and tiny tears had begun to glaze her stunning ocean blue eyes. Her fathers can her grabbed aggressively and far too tightly by her wrist and he was sneering in her face. I yanked his arm away from grabbing hers and shoved him back into the wall.

"Get off her!" I said sternly.
