"Wow..." Parker sighed. I told him all about who I thought it was threatening me. I didn't have solid proof, but I somewhat knew. It made sense, and other answers didn't. I knew Parker would understand and he would believe me, but if I were to report them there would be a lack of proof. Parker would only understand because he knew me, and I had told a lot about my life. A stranger's outlook on the situation would be different and it would certainly be nothing they could make an arrest for.
"Of course, I have no real way to clarify this..." I began and he nodded.
"No, you are right. It makes sense. I think you might be right." He agreed. Him listening to my crazy thoughts that may not mean a lot to anyone else meant a lot. I loved that he took me seriously when necessary.
"So, I was hoping..." I paused doubtfully and he waited for me to continue. He wasn't going to agree to what I was about to say. "I was hoping you would help me find out if it really is who I think it is." He immediately shook his head.
"No. Riley, I'm sorry, but this is beyond both of us. It is not safe, nor is it responsible for us to take measures this serious into our own hands. I'm sorry gorgeous, but it'd be a stupid move. And based on what you told me it could be fatal. Even if you hate me for this, we have to report it to the police." Obviously it was the only rational thing to do but that didn't mean I wanted to.
"Please, Parker." I begged and gave him a pleading look.
"I want you to be happy but not at the risk of your life." He had made his mind up and I knew he wouldn't change it. I couldn't even be angry or upset with him about it, because at the end of the day he was only protecting me. Besides, at that point it felt like it would be pretty hard for me to feel anything negative toward him, I only felt lucky to have him and I was focussed on that. "Come here gorgeous."
He reached his arms out to greet me to a warm embrace. I lent on him, snuggling my head to his shoulder and he hugged his arm around me. My worries floated away, and somehow I just knew everything would turn out okay. No matter was came, we would get through it. He kissed my forehead.
"I still can't believe this." He said gently. "I can't believe they would do this. And if it is who we suspect... I mean it makes sense but it's crazy. I'm sorry, Thunder." I smiled up at him.
"When are you going to make me go to the police station?" I groaned.
"Today. Sooner the better, I won't take chances with your life." I muttered under my breath, but somewhat nodded to show that I would do that. Part of me wanted to tell the police who I thought was threatening me, but I suspected they would take me as a fool. I wasn't the kind of person who liked to be seen as dim.
"No offence, but I assume you aren't doing anything for Christmas and New Year?" I laughed.
"None taken. No, I'm not, why?" I asked. I hadn't had a nice Christmas or celebrated new year in longer than I could recall so I kind of hoped Parker would be doing something.
"We don't do a lot, but I tend to spend both with Alice and Noah. Do you want to join in?" He asked like I said anything better to do.
"Yes, that would be great thanks!" I was glad to spend that time of the year with friends and my boyfriend. The last time I had spent Christmas with someone I loved was with my mother.
It was the 22nd of December and Christmas was fast approaching. It was comforting knowing I would have people to spend it with. That is without having to attend one of my father's ridiculous Christmas gatherings. Christmas was always lonely, more so even than other times, because it was when I was meant to be around people. That made the empty space even more notable.
