"Welcome to Italy, gorgeous." I turned back around in and instant, throwing my arms around his and kissing him.
"Parker, thank you so much. It's beautiful. It's amazing, I love it here." I squealed and I let go of our embrace at I ran forward toward the stunning chalet. He stood where he was and simply watched me as I made a fuss over how incredible it was. I turned back to him.
"Come on, I love it but it's no fun on my own." He came over quickly.
He opened the wooden door and lead me into the most gorgeous interior I had ever seen. Not only was the chalet huge and expensive, but it also had a warm and cosy feel as soon as we entered. I think it was to do with there being a lit fire in contrast to the ice-cold snow outside. Plus, there were cushions decorating each sofa and fluffy rugs to cover every wooden floor. But maybe it was just being there with him and the safety I felt whenever I was near him.
"Do we have time to ski today?" I whipped my head around and put my hands together smiling pleasantly. He laughed.
"Yes, just about. Maybe getting up early wasn't so bad after all, huh?" I gave a half-hearted nod. Sleep was nice too, but I guessed skiing would be worth it. Kind of.
"Have we hired skis?"
"Yes, I asked them to be taken here so they should already be waiting for us."
After changing into suitable clothing and finding the skis and helmets, we set off straight for the ski lifts. It was getting fairly late in the day, so there weren't many people waiting because the ski lifts would stop shortly.
"So, I was thinking..." He began while we were waiting in the queue. "We should go to the peak, hardly anyone will be there because most people who go there use the lifts some of the way down. It's a long way down, so most people prefer to only ski the top parts."
"Sounds great. Hey, by the way, did you forget I have never skied before?" I said very directly and simply.
"Don't worry, I've skied loads, I'm basically a qualified teacher because I'm so talented." I rolled my eyes at his lack of modesty.
"Won't we get tired skiing so far?"
"We have loads of time, I have a headtorch and we can stop whenever you like. We also can go on the easiest slopes. It will be amazing, trust me."
And so, after only a little more persuading, Parker and I found ourselves on top a mountain with the most beautiful view as the sun set. No one else was there, as we expected.
We stood hand in hand for a moment just admiring and taking in the beauty of the mountains. In the final remains of sunlight, the other mountain peaks on the horizon the snow looked a golden mix of yellow tones with hints of the cool blue from the approaching night.
"Come on, the easy slope is this way."
I was bad at skiing. Really bad. I thought my balance to be practically non-existent, but luckily Parker tried to help, and I was beginning to get the hang of it. We were on a very gentle and gradual slope, so it wasn't too difficult.
"OK, just try to go slowly because this bit is a little steeper." I nodded, but as it got steeper, I began to lose control. I sped up and I powered in front of Parker who was skiing steadily.
"Parker! How the f*ck do I stop it's not working." I could hear him laughing behind me as I got even faster. "Stop laughing!"
"Remember how I told you how to stop?!" He called to me between snorts of laughter.
"Yes, but it CLEARLY is not working!" I sped off even faster. Then I heard swift skis coming down next to me. Parker skied quickly ahead of me without trouble. He grabbed his arm around my waist, but I lost my balance again as he did so and we both tumbled into the snow.
Half-submerged in the snow but ignoring its ice-cold temperature, we were both laughing uncontrollable piled on top of each other, our skis in a tangled mess.
Parker let himself fall back into the snow and he pulled his ski goggles up. I lay beside him propped up slightly by one arm and leant over his chest and put my cold hand against his cheek. He didn't flinch, he only looked confidentially into my eyes.
"How do you look so perfect, even with the ugly helmet and goggles whilst being covered in snow?" He asked thoughtfully.
"I could ask the same about you." I pulled the goggles over my helmet. "Does this help even more so?"
"Only because now, I can see your stunning ocean blue eyes." I pulled a confused expression.
"You like my eyes?" I asked and his face twisted sadly.
"Have I never complimented your eyes before, Thunder?" He sighed.
"I can't say you have." I admitted. I always figured with eyes like his mine would be insignificant.
"Mmmm. Well, I'm sorry about that, I should have. When I first saw you across the room in that café, the first thing I noticed were your eyes. Not only their striking blue hue that practically hypnotized me, but also, what your eyes held. I can see so much through your eyes, like they are a window to everything going on in your head. And when you are happy, they are even more beautiful because through your eyes I see the truthfulness in your happiness."
I blushed a little but held his gaze. I then slowly leant further toward his face and allowed our lips to softly meet. We held the most romantic kiss alone in the snow imaginable. I slowly pulled my face away from his.
Before I could react, he grabbed snow from behind him and put it down the back of my coat. He hopped up and began to ski away. I clumsily jumped up.
"Parker Jones I will get you back for that!" I slowly skied and tried to catch up with him. "Wait for a moment, will you! I'm trying to throw snow at you here!"
