Christmas was magical. I felt like a child waking up that morning because it felt like my first Christmas. We spent the day just the four of us, me, Parker, Summer and Noah.
Summer cooked the most amazing lunch for us. Parker helped her with cooking a little and I also tried my best. We all exchanged gifts, and finally Parker gave me the gift he bought me, or should I say both of them.
"Parker you bought me two?" He nodded and smiled impatiently. "We agreed on small things, I thought. That doesn't fit with two gifts." He shrugged and urged me to open them anyway. By the way Summer was smiling I could tell she knew exactly what it was. I opened the first gift.
"Wow... Parker, it's gorgeous." It was the most beautiful necklace I had ever seen. It was silver with a fine chain, and the charm was an infinity symbol rimmed with a line of diamantes. "Gosh, please don't tell me the diamonds are real?" He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.
"They are... and it is white gold." He admitted.
"Parker you really didn't have to spend that much on me, I don't need your money spent on me." He continued to sit in a nervous manner. "It is beautiful though, I love it!" I gave him a warm hug.
"Open the next one." He whispered as I persistently wrapped my arms around him.
I opened it and inside was an envelope. I wondered why he would wrap up a card. But as I opened the envelope, something over than a card fell out. It was two pieces of paper. As I held them, I studied them closer. Two plane tickets to Italy, for me and Parker.
"Oh my... Parker... You bought a trip to Italy? Are you serious?" I exclaimed.
"Yep, if you want to go. You mentioned that your mother was Italian and that you always wanted to go but never got the chance, this is your chance... that's if you want to go with me."
"Of course, I do! Thank you so much, I can't believe this." I leant over to him and began placing short kisses all over his face. He leant back and laughed.
"Woah there!" Noah interrupted. "Summer and I are still here calm yourself." We all laughed, and I leant away sitting back down.
"Thank you so much Parker, I think you know how much going to Italy would mean to me." He nodded, and he just looked happy. I was starting to realise he always matched my mood. If I were sad, he was sad for me, and if I were happy, he couldn't help but smile.
The new year was approaching fast. New years day is when our tickets were booked for, so even though we should have been resting for our early flight, we wanted to stay up to welcome the year to come.
"So..." Parker began as he grabbed four pieces of paper. "We put our names down and fold the paper, and then we pick a name. And then whoever you pick, you have to write a new year's resolution for."
I picked up a piece of paper with Parker's name on it. It wasn't like there was anything serious he could do better, so I wrote down 'stop buying me expensive gifts'. I passed it to him, and Noah passed me a note. Parker gave his to Summer, and Summer gave hers to Noah. I unfolded mine first and read it out.
"No more rolling your eyes at me... it's mean." Summer giggled and I sighed. "That's a tough one, I had no idea you would be so mean with your resolution." He shrugged and grinned. Noah opened his next.
"Stop... Hey, that's not fair!" He argued.
"What does it say?" Parker asked.
"Stop being an idiot." Summer snorted in laughter and Parker and I joined in a little. Noah stayed put with his arms crossed. "It isn't even specific!" Summer was next.
"Quit making loads of really good food before we all become clinically obese." Parker smirked at her across the room. "You clearly can't handle my chef talent." And finally, it was Parker's turn.
"Stop buying me expensive gifts." I raised an eyebrow. "No can do, I like spoiling you I'm afraid." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Hey!" Noah proclaimed. "I might have to change your resolution to no rolling your eyes at anyone if you aren't careful!" The next hour went really quickly, and before long it was time to count down for the new year.
"10...9...8...7...6...5...4...3...2...1...Happy new year!" I turned around to keep with tradition I kissed Parker. I was so happy for this year, because it felt like a new start, a clean slate. And I really thought it was going to be an amazing and problem free year.
"I'm so happy to enter the new year with you." I murmured.
Parker and I got to sleep shortly after. We set alarms for 6am, and we both feel asleep quickly because we knew we would have to if we were going to make the journey to Italy.
"Riley." Parker nudged me and I groaned without moving. "I left you to sleep as long as I could, but we have to go soon." I sat up and yawned.
"Maybe we should have missed counting down for midnight." I mumbled sleepily. He smiled. He smiled and as I regained composure, I began to grin too. "We are going to Italy." I said excitedly. I had never been abroad, and I had always wanted to go to a different country, my mother's home country in particular.
"Get dressed, and then we will leave straight away, I put the suitcases by the door, and we can get breakfast on the plane."
"Please don't tell me it's going to be some fancy airplane that you spent way too much money on?" He sat back onto the bed next to me and put his face close to mine.
"Hm. No promises." I knew that meant he had most likely gone and hired the most expensive airplane and pilot he could find. He got up and began to leave the room.
"Parker!" I called out just before he disappeared out the doorway. He turned back to face me. "Io sono così innamorato di te."
"Warming up the Italian?" He teased and I giggled. He really didn't understand a word of Italian himself. "What does it mean."
"Nothing important." It meant 'I am so in love with you'. It was nice to say even if my stupid self couldn't spit it out in a language he could understand.
