CHAPTER 8: LOVE IS IN A CAGE

~Aleks's POV~

I sat at lunch with my head on the table. Today was the full moon and Xander would be gone. I sighed and shut my eyes. At least now he couldnt stare at me during lunch. I still dont know why he did that. Somebody sat down next to me. I opened one eye and looked over. A girl with brown braids smiled at me. Her eyes sparkled with delight.
"Hello! I am new here. My name is Aya Takuya. We are now friends." She said still smiling childishly. I remained silent staring at her. Friends? Why did she...Xander. Oh she wants to get close to Xander through me. My heart sunk, she was pretty and Xander's type. Shed make a good girlfriend. I returned the smile.
"Oh! No I dont want Xander. Whoever that is, I just want a friend" she smiled. Did I just say that out loud?
"Im telepathic. Dont worry. So who is Xander?" She asked leaning in. "Is he your c.r.u.s.h?" I felt my face turn red and I hid in my jacket. Dont read my mind, its embarrassing.
"Oh! Im sorry I cant help it" she said. I looked up at her. Does she even know my name? She remained silent staring at me puzzled.
"I am Aleks Harada. Its nice to meet you." I whispered still blushing. Someone sat down on the other side of me. I turned around to see Xander resting his head in his hands glaring at Aya.
"Xander? What are you doing?" I asked. Aya let out a squeal.
"So this is Xander!" She stated clapping. Xander gave me a confused look. He was famous for those.
"Uhm, th-this is Aya" I said
"His new friend!" Aya laughed. Xander remained staring at her silently. After a minute of silence it got awkward. I let out a nervous laugh.
"Uhm so, arnt you supposed to be in some assembly lettkng you know what happens tonight?" I asked Xander. Aya awed and giggled. Xander turned red and looked away.
"What?" I asked and Aya went to reply but Xander shot her a look. I am so confused. I looked between the two and sighed.
"So what monster are you Aleks?" Aya asked and me and Xander froze.
"Okay so when you do that it makes me want to read your mind" she said smiling then she gasped. She looked at me her mouth hanging open.
"H-hum-huma.?" Aya gasped and Xander stood up. Oh glob no. My mind went blank with fear. Only one thought went through my head. And it was to run. I got up but tripped falling backwards. Aya stood up and backed away. No no no no. She turned around and ran. No no no no. I saw Xander take off after her. No no no no NO NO NO NO. I got off af my feet and ran out of the lunch room. The nurse, I need to get to the nurse. I ran face first into someone. I heard chuckling.
"Look who I found!" Finny's familiar voice rang through my head causing my heart to stop. No no no no no. I heard more laughing and I was thrown to the ground. I winced and looked up. No no no no. Finy and four other guys smiled down at me. A few cracking their knuckles and neck. No no no no.
"Come on, we wanna play a game" Finny said pullig me towards the bathroom by my hair.
"NO! Stop!" I yelled. Finny jerked my head forward causeing me to yelp.
"Shuddap pretty boy" One of the guys said. I was pulled into the bathroom and flung to the ground once again.
"No please!" I begged backing up. They all surrounded me.
"Come on boys, lets play kick the fag" Finny sneered sending a kick into my stomache before I could block. I coughed and curled into a ball covering my head.
"Stop!" I muttered as a heel drove into my ribs. I coughed and squeezed my eyes shut as more kicks assaulted my body. One caught me right in the gut. I coughed up blood and turned onto my back. Uh oh, bad idea. Finny got on top of me and started hitting me in the face. I tried to block the punches but two other guys held my arms down. A warm metallic taste runs over my tongue as he punches me in the cheek. My mind was spining and my eyesight blurred. It looked like I was under water. Suddenly the punches stopped and Finny got off of me.
"Oh and Xander, dont think he is gonna stick around for a long time." Finny chuckled "I mean look at yourself. Who would want that anyways?"
They all left, I just laid there. His words ringing throughout my head. My body was in so much pain, but my heart the most. He was right, he would leave. Who would want a human. I heard someone come into the bathroom.
"Aleks?" Xanders called. I couldn't help but laugh. Ironic that he would find me. He kneeled beside me. "What happened? Who did this?" He asked his face wore an worried expression. I coughed up more blood. Xander gently lifted me up and held me in his arms. His body was so warm. I leaned into him. Even if he was going to leave me, I could enjoy his presence now, right?
"Who did this?" Xander asked quietly. I looked up to him and shook my head giving him a small smile.
"Aleks? Who did this?" He asked getting angry.
"Does it m-matter?...dont...dont worry about it" I said.
"Im gonna ask you about this later. First lets get you to the nurse." He said helping me up. I winced in pain as I tried to stand. It hurt like hell. Xander sighed then picked me up. I yelped as he moved me into a more comfortable position.  He carried me out the door bridal style. My face turned bright red. Luckily the hall way was empty, except for Aya. When she saw us she gasped and ran over to me.
"Oh my gahd! This is my fault. Oh no, im sorry. I wasnt gonna tell anyone. I am so sorry, Xander was kinda giving me a death stare so I ran. I dont mind that your...you know. Ah! What happened?" Aya cried out. I couldnt tell them what Finny did. I mean...I dunno I didn't want Xander to get into any problems with his group.
"Who is Finny?" Aya asked confused. I froze, she read my mind again. Xander stopped walking and looked at me. His golden eyes burned with anger.
"Finny did this?!" He demanded. I looked away from him and nodded.
"But do-dont do anything to m-make him ang-angry" I stuttered before coughing more. I had a giant headache and still couldn't see very well. I rested my head on his shoulder and we started walking again.
"No, he will be angry in the afterlife!" Kye snapped clenching his jaw. I sighed and shut my eyes.
I woke up in the nurse lying on a cot. Xander and Aya sat by the bed. I looked over to them, my body felt numb.
"Hey" I said, my voice came out hoarse. Xander looked up at me.
"Aleks! God you scared me." He said grabbing my hand. I blushed and smiled at him.
"I told him you weren't dead. He was freaking out, it was kinda funny" Aya laughed then looked down at me. "Im sorry for kinda reading your mind again" she said sadly. I gave her a smile. Why was she hanging around still?
"How long...have I been here?" I asked.
"A few hours, class is over" Aya said.
"Attention all werewolves, vampires, and succubi. Please report to the main hall for your cell number" the speaker crackled and Xander growled.
"Ugh, I dont want to go" he said then looked at me "Will you be fine all alone?"
"He wont be alone!" Aya laughed "im staying with him" Xander gave her a questioning look.
"Its fine, go before all the good cells are gone" I said and he nodded getting up.
"Bye, ill come once I get out tommorow" he said before leaving. I smiled slightly blushing a bit.
"You two are cute together" Aya said smiling softly.
"W-we arnt to-together!" I exclaimed causing her to laugh.
"But you two like each other right?"
"I..uh-I du-dunno" I said covering my face in the sheets. Aya giggled.
"Oh well I think it will work out" she said and I peeked out from the sheets. Aya looked out the window a small smile on her lips. She looked...lonely. I grabbed her hand ad offered her a smile. She laughed and moved closer to me.
"I hope me and you can be friends for a long time. Is that a bad idea?" She asked. I shook my head quickly.
"No, I think we will be great friends" I said as my eyelids grew heavy.
"You must be tired still. Get some sleep" Aya said softly. All I could manage was a small nod before my eyelids closed.
