CHAPTER 24: THE GODS WHO PROTECT, WATCH THEIR OWN FALL

Also, this story is going to take a very sad unexpected turn. If your heart is the purest and cannot take sadness, please stop reading. But if you can take it, I wish you the saddest of thoughts throughout this story.

~Aleks's POV~

I sat in Key's room, Blaine sitting next to and Xander was on his way. Butterflies attacked my insides as I tried to figure out the best way to ask Key for help. Blaine had been quiet for the past few minutes which was quite unnerving. A week had past since I told him our plan...and Xander still has no clue he is coming with us.
We all turned as the door swung open. Xander stood in the doorway sipping on a drink, Key sighed and shook his head.
"Welcome Mr. Bailey. I assume you are the last person we are expecting?" He asked as Xander made eye contact with Blaine.
"What's he doing here?" Xander growled, ignoring Key's question. I froze as I noticed the tension between the two. I cleared my throat and motioned to Blaine.
"He's uh...c-coming with us?" I said, although it came out as more of a question. Xander seemed to of disliked that answer greatly and stalked towards Blaine, glaring him down.
"No way in hell" He sneered. Blaine smirked at him and leaned back before winking at me. Xander growled and pulled him up from the seat. Key stood up with an annoyed look on his face.
"Did you all come in her to simply annoy me and fight?" he snapped "If so, I would appreciate it if you would leave now!"
We all froze at his out burst and after a moment he sighed and straightened his glasses, taking his seat once again.
"Now why...or more like what...do you need" He asked as Xander let Blaine go, seemingly calmer than before. But clearly still not happy to see Blaine, I knew I should have told him earlier.
"I..uh...we..needed a f-favor" I replied.
"And by we, he means me and him...only" Xander added in. Blaine rolled his eyes and scoffed before looking back up to Xander.
"What did I do to make you so angry?" He cooed, getting off track once again.
"Need my help for what?" Key cut in, avoiding another argument between the two.
"Uhm...we want..your help g-getting" I started but my voice trailed off. Xander sighed and moved to sit next to me.
"We want help getting out" He finished for me as he wrapped his arm around me. I blushed lightly as I was pulled into his warmth. Key eyed my reaction before looking back to Xander with a stern expression.
"I can't help you with that" He replied.
"But you can, and I know you can" Xander noted. "We need your brain power and all that weird science stuff you can do"
"And if I refuse, you realize you have no next move" Key stated crossing his arms over his chest as he leaned forward.
"That's why you can't refuse, we all know none of us want to stay here. And we all know you can get us out" Xander replied, a smile spreading across his face.
"And why do you assume this?" he retorted quirking a purple brow
"You were set in charge of finding out why I grew ears and a tail after my transformation, so your in good with the staff. And I happen to know your in all high ability classes, so you have the smarts to get us out" Xander stated.
"Sometimes it takes more then smarts to attain freedom" Key replied and stood up stretching himself out. "But I guess this place can get quite tiring. You understand the danger all of you are putting yourself in with this idea?"
"We already have one foot in the grave" Blaine scoffed
"I'd rather die than have to stay in here" Xander added
"Y-Yes, completely" I stated finally.

Key examined all of us before he nodded and went to his bunk bed, the bottom bunk stacked with countless books. He grabbed a green one off the top and opened it, pulling out a smaller paper.
"This is a map of the school's security system" He stated. "But before I even think about giving this to any of you. I need to know that I can trust you. I know Mr. Bailey's and Tatsuya's monster and not so monster type. However, I don't think I know yours" He said and turned to Blaine pointing his papers directly at him.
Blaine quirked an eyebrow before smiling, letting out a slight chuckle as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Hasn't anyone told you its impolite to ask people's monsters type" he replied.
"Just answer him Blaine" Xander snapped. Blaine glanced over and shook his head before sighing.
"I'm a robot" he said finally before looking to Key with a smile "And yours, Mr. Smart stuff?"
"I am a Wendigo" he stated and silence filled the room.
"But...that's a cannibal right?" Xander asked with a confused expression. Key nodded and placed the map on the table.
"That is correct" he said plainly. "Although the extent of my...hunger...varies greatly"
Xander pulled me closer to him as he nodded, seemingly wary of Key now.

~Aya's POV~

"I am a wendigo" I heard Key announce, his voice muffled through his door. I paused from my position, if he goes with them his little ability could make my job much harder. Although it still wouldn't be the easiest with Xander and Blaine around. Although I can take them on and still have enough time to take out Aleks fairly easy.
"Aya" Kiyo called out to me quietly. I looked over to him, we had both been here since the very beginning of the conversation.
"Yeah, I know" I said and turned back to listen to them. Kiyo grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him. Glaring down at me as he tightened his grip on my thin wrists.
"Don't think of betraying me" he warned. I pulled away and scowled.
"Don't think I would, I will take down that maggot if its the last thing I do" I growled clenching my fists. Kiyo's eyes still glared into mine, the look not letting up.
"Your words are strong" he grabbed me again "Your blade is stronger"
"I get it" I sneered and ripped away from him "Lay off will you?"
"You are losing your head, our best hit man bested by some human brat" He stated as I glared at him. I am being bested by no one. That boy is simply has some god protecting him. And that god will either watch him fall, or go down with him.
