Knives have been around for as long as civilization, perhaps before. It is one of the oldest of weapons, whether physically or mentally. And the power a knife can hold never gets old, nor dull - because a knife is sharp enough to take your life away. And who knows, it might just take mine.

The knife plunges into my stomach.

"Oh my god." I whisper as I fall to the floor.

The next thing I know, I am unconscious. Suddenly, I wake up with Henry and Nelly by my side. I can't open my eyes just yet, but I hear them arguing.

"How could you do this to him?!" Nelly yells at Henry.

"I was only defending myself. Really, I was defending us." He explains.

"No, you weren't! You better be glad you performed surgery to save him, or else you would be dead too!" Nelly fires at him.

"I can't believe you!" Henry yells.

I'm finally strong enough to open my eyes and I look at them.

"Zane." Henry says.

"Henry." I say back as I get ready to completely change the subject. "Has my father awaken from his coma yet?"

"Oh my gosh, we haven't checked." Nelly answers me instead.

I get up and they try to steady myself as we walk over to the other room to see if my father is awake...or okay.

We walk in and immediately see his head lift up.

"Thank god." My father says.

"Dad!" I yell in relief and excitement.

"Let's unstrap you from this table." Henry says, suddenly with a change of heart towards me or perhaps my father. Maybe Henry realizes that if I don't like him, then my father certainly won't unless Henry gets his act together.

Henry takes a knife and cuts the straps.

Like I said, the knife can take a life away. But at the same time, knives can save lives...perhaps to perform surgery, to untie someone, or produce food from hunting. Knives can be used for good or evil, it's up to us to choose. And for the evil, nothing good will come of their misuse.

I stare at Henry with a look of ever readiness. Ever readiness to destroy him. Once and for all.
