The chains rattle as I sit up. I open my eyes to a nightmare. There is a small portion of food in a bowl near the bars. Quite frankly, I don't know what it is. Like every morning, I look up at the window and try to yell for help but it is utterly pointless. No one comes for me.
A great injustice has been done to me and there is absolutely nothing I can do. Tied in chains against the floor, I am limited as to where I walk in this cell. The food begins to turn into a person. I'm that hungry. As much as I hate to, I reach for the bowl and eat whatever the sloppy mess is. It tasted awful.
For the past few weeks, I have been without freedom. Painfully waiting in this cell. I am kidnapped. Weeks have gone by and I have begun to wonder if anyone has even really went looking for me. I don't even know where I am. There is no telling.
When I was a little boy, I learned of a dangerous secret that died with the person who told me. I was told to never tell a single soul until I absolutely had to, in my dying moment. The person that told me was my grandfather. Everyone thought he was a loon, but I'm the only one that knew it was all an act. A simple cover up to make people unsuspecting that he carried the secret. Now I carry that heavy secret, that has weighed me down since the moment I found it.
Present day, someone discovered that I know. That I know the secret. For weeks, I have been putting up with torture to keep this secret and there is no way I'm letting it go. They come in with their whips and begin the torture, like they do everyday I have been here.
"Zane! Tell us! Spit it out!," they say.
But I don't budge. I don't budge and I never will. In the wrong hands, this secret could lead to the end of humanity.
Eventually, they leave the cell. My back bleeds immensely and I feel the hot, surging pain that the side effects of knowing this secret has caused.
I miss Patrick and Rob. I miss my parents. I miss everyone. Most of all, I miss Nelly. She is the girl that I love that I am so paralyzed to make a move with. We will never be together if I don't hurry up. I can't do that especially being where I am now.
The door to the cell suddenly swings wide and I open my bruised eyes.
"Zane," he says, "let's get the hell out of here."
I begin to realize who is here. Who has come for me.
"Dad?," I say in shock.
