The Secret

Chapter 20: It's Not Over

"Noooo!!!," Nelly and I yell as Jeremy opens the volt to the secret.

Nelly and I race to stop him but it's too late. He grabbed a hold of the energy that sustains the earth. It's over.

Nelly and I stare in horror as Jeremy takes the energy - the power - and I feel I can see the future - the end - coming. It's over. Everything is all over.

I have tried to keep the secret for a very long time and I have taken beatings, faced near death situations, and sacrificed for the ones I love and I have failed.

In that very moment, a flashback comes to mind.

"I failed," I say, with my head down.

"You tried," he says.

"But you know I can't let this secret out," I say.

"Yes," he says, "but at least you didn't give it away, you only revealed the volt to her and there is no way to get in. You haven't failed. Trust me. And I mean, you haven't told me the exact secret but I'm here for you, to help guard it."

"Thank you," I say, finally looking up, "you are a true friend, you know it?"

"Oh, thanks. You are too," Jeremy says.

In the present, I realize from that flashback that I might have not failed just yet. There is still hope because it isn't too late to stop him. It may feel like the end of the world but it's not. I know it's not. It can't be. I will - we will - create an army to stand tall against Jeremy and take away his rule and take away the energy to put it back to where it belongs. We will and we will win because we are strong. Strong enough that this secret has been kept for as long as it has been.

Nelly and I may not have officially gotten together yet but little do we know, we have. We have kissed and I have shared a secret with her that I would share with nobody else. And together, we will make it a secret again. Through the impending darkness Jeremy is to cause, we will make it. And we will conquer.

Jeremy races past us and returns to the surface as Nelly and I chase after him. Nelly and I look at each other with a look of confidence, knowing that the battle isn't over. Knowing that the secret will stay a secret. Knowing that we will stop him once and for all.
