Nelly's Perspective

"No!" I scream, aching for Zane.

"How could you do this?" I cry to the angels standing near. "You think this is some sort of act of goodness?!"

I pause, looking them in the eye.

"Well, it's not!" I shout, trying to keep my composure but the anger is almost too overpowering. "You have taken everything away from Zane. You have now taken his life. He never made the choice of having the secret, it was forced upon him. This isn't sacrifice. This is outright murder and I will blame you all for the rest of my life about what you done to him and how wrong that was."

"We are sorry." They say.

"Actions speak louder than words. And your actions remain the same. You. Killed. Zane." I spit.

"No, no, no. You have it all wrong." One of the angels say. "We did not kill him. We are merely doing what we must to keep the secret safe."

"It's all about the secret." I say, rolling my eyes.

"That secret is what keeps everyone alive. The loss of one human is much better than the lost of all mankind." One of the angels speak up.

I look around and spot the gun that we had used to protect ourselves from Henry way back when. I run and grab the gun and look up at them.

"You didn't have to kill him." I spit again. "And if you don't bring Zane back, I am not keeping your secret. It is Zane and I or nothing."

The angels in front of me look at each other with looks of shock and worry about their next move as I put the gun up to my head.

"We can't do that. I'm sorry." One of angels say.

I then pull the trigger.

"Wait." Another one of them says. "We can arrange that."

"Alright." I say, putting the gun down. "All on one condition. This is where it all ends."

"What?" An angel gasps.

"Zane and I are not going to protect the secret. We do not intend on exploiting it. You can change the locks of the vault if desired but Zane and I live our lives like normal for once." I demand.

"Okay, you deserve that much." An angel admits. "We didn't ever give a choice. So it's time we did. We are sorry for all this secret has caused. We will bring Zane back at once."

"Thank you." I respond.

I smile briefly before thinking about if they really deserved a thank you or not. They don't deserve a thank you at all. Ugh.

Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, they come back with Zane.

"Zane!!!!" I scream happily.

"Nelly!!" He shouts back.

We run to each other and immediately hug. In this moment, the world seems to stop and I feel and hear nothing else but Zane's heartbeat which I am so thankful for.

We cherish this embrace as long as we can before letting go.

We look around us and are stunned. The buildings are back to normal. Nothing is destroyed. Cars are driving past us and people are walking here and there. Everyone is back again and acting normal. No cracks from the earthquakes. Nothing seems to have changed from the way things were before but a note on Zane's shirt.

"What's this?" I say grabbing the note.

"It says," I read, "We have made things back to normal while pausing time for the both of you. We have also changed the secret combination and have given the secret to someone who chose to accept it. We apologize for what you have been through and we promise to let you live your lives in peace. - the Angels."

I smile at Zane, genuinely pleased, something I haven't been in a long time.

Zane's Perspective

"Thank god." I say with relief.

Immediately after Nelly reads that, a weight drops from my shoulders. A weight that had been weighing on my shoulders for far too long. For the first time in a long time, I feel a real sense of happiness. No worries.

This secret has kept me from fulfilling my dreams and living my life to the fullest and now, I can finally do many things I have wanted to do and I can now be proud to say I have Nelly by my side. As my girl. No longer a crush. I had finally made my move with her.

I look at Nelly with an ever readiness to the wonderful future we have ahead of us and I kiss her. My lips press against her soft lips and we got lost in the moment.

The end.
